Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Jasun Wharton (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Ville Ahokas (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Ahokas comes into a darkened arena with his song building. ELUVEITIE - Inis Mona kicks in, the lights come on and the crowd goes wild! What a showman! This should be fireworks!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 6 - 4 - 0, fighting out of New York, Jasun Wharton!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 6 - 4 - 0, fighting out of New York, Ville Ahokas!
The judges for this bout are Jonathan Paton, Russell Pearce and Steve Montenegro.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
A swing and a miss from Wharton.
We've been hearing reports that Wharton has been drilling takedowns in recent sessions so let's see if that has an impact on the result of this fight.
Ahokas throws an ugly left hook that misses

and Wharton counters with a shoot takedown. Ahokas fights it but they end up in guard.
Wharton loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry.
Wharton connects with a couple of short punches.

Wharton drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Wharton jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.
Wharton cracks Ahokas with a solid left hand.
Ahokas manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Wharton manages to get himself to full guard.

Wharton is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
Ahokas really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Wharton. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
There's a bit of a scramble here and now Wharton is on top in guard.

The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. Wharton connects with a nice short shot to Ahokas's temple.
Wharton thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Ahokas's head.

Wharton wants to work for an arm triangle but Ahokas is really keeping half guard well and defending the submission attempt.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Wharton is looking to advance position but Ahokas won't allow it.

Wharton slips a nice elbow through Ahokas's hands, connecting with Ahokas's forehead.

Wharton looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Ahokas with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position.

Wharton throwing punches and elbows but they're not doing any damage.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Ahokas is the aggressor but that punch slipped nicely by Wharton.

Wharton throws a loose over hand right and dives in with a double leg takedown. Ahokas tries to sprawl but it's too late and the fighters hit the mat. Wharton is in Ahokas's guard.

Wharton seems to be taking a bit of a break to think of his next move. He lands a short punch in the meantime.

Ahokas is controlling Wharton's trapped leg to prevent Wharton from advancing to side control.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Ahokas utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Wharton stands up over Ahokas, holding his feet. He dives back in and lands a decent shot to the head.

Ahokas avoiding any damage from the ground and pound.
Wharton wants to control from the top but Ahokas keeps moving.
Wharton is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Ahokas can do to turn this around?

We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Ahokas can do anything to dispel that myth.

It looked like Wharton was trying to counter with a body shot coming off that last attack from Ahokas.

Ahokas tries to bum rush Wharton with a series of wild strikes but Wharton uses good footwork to avoid the assault.
A quick step to the side and Wharton tries to counter with a shot to the body but it doesn't connect.

Ahokas lunges in with an uppercut that skims his opponent's chin.
