PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Vincent Oketch (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Fabricio Valakas (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Valakas has chosen Coolio - Gangster's Paradise as his entrance music. These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 12 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Vincent Oketch!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 9 - 5 - 1, fighting out of New York, Fabricio Valakas!
The judges for this bout are Colin Fray, Jeff Smith and Chris Saunders.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Valakas looks to land a left hand but Oketch moved out of range nicely.

Oketch rushes Valakas and presses him up against the cage.
Oketch misses with a shot to the kidneys.
Oketch tried to land a shot to the body but connects with Valakas's elbow.
Valakas's corner are urging him to control the action in the clinch for a moment, rather than mount any serious offense. I'm sure the crowd appreciate those instructions... not.

Valakas lands with a good tight uppercut to the head.
Oketch lands with a left to the head.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

and Valakas counters with a quick right hand to the jaw.
Valakas seems to have recovered his senses.
Oketch ducks under an overhand right and circles away with a smile on his face.

Oketch swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Valakas swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.
Oketch is looking to counter the offense by Valakas and move into the clinch.
A looping hook to the body misses from Oketch. Valakas does a little dance to reset his feet.
Valakas stalks Oketch and leaps in with a furious combination of punches. Uppercuts and crosses smash into Oketch's face. Oketch staggers backwards, shaken.
Oketch displays some good footwork, moving neatly out of range as Valakas throws out the jab.

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Oketch lands a knee to the body and follows it up with some ground and pound to the head. That will wear Valakas down.

Oketch stands up over Valakas, holding his feet. He dives back in and lands a decent shot to the head.

Valakas on the receiving end of some nice ground and pound.

Valakas is looking to get back to full guard here but Oketch has managed to pass to side control instead.
Valakas is still in real trouble! Can Oketch finish him?
Oketch lands a strong strike to the head of Valakas. That's dazed him! Oketch looking to finish here. Valakas is waving his arms around trying to block but he's hurt badly - Oketch lands more strikes and the referee steps in to end the fight!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:39 of round 2, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Vincent Oketch!
After winning the bout, Vincent Oketch thanked all his fans and promised he'd do even better in his next fight. The crowd seemed to love his humility.
