Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of
8 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Kyz Metamoris!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of
7 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Duncan The Tall!
The judges for this bout are Micheangelo Fripello, Jeff Smith and Josh West.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Metamoris takes one on the button.
Metamoris shoots in looking for a takedown but The Tall manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Metamoris's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away.
Metamoris shoots for a double leg takedown but The Tall sprawls well. He's pushed Metamoris's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.
The Tall leaves Metamoris with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.
The Tall tries to counter by closing the distance.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Kyz Metamoris. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Metamoris fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. The Tall sprawls well initially but Metamoris persists and gets the takedown into half guard.
Metamoris trying to control from half guard but The Tall is working away.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Metamoris seems content to maintain position for now, rather than mounting any offense.
The Tall has a hand on Metamoris's thigh, trying to get back to full guard. Metamoris takes advantage of the position though and mounts him!
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Metamoris looks like he's working for a submission but he's not found anything just yet.
BOOM! Metamoris connects with a massive shot to the dome!
The Tall has found himself in a tricky position here. He's been working his transitions in training so let's see if he can work his way out of it.
That's one minute gone in the round.
Metamoris goes for an armbar but The Tall turns quickly into his guard - lovely anticipation from The Tall.
Metamoris escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. The Tall gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.
Metamoris pulls The Tall in close to prevent any damage.
That's two minutes gone in the round.
The Tall content to sit in guard, stalling... Great. Oh but he could get punished here because Metamoris has locked up a guillotine! Metamoris's face is contorted as he sqeezes tight on the submission attempt - will he finish? The Tall is holding on here and Metamoris must be using up a lot of energy. The Tall has gone limp! He's out! He's out cold! Metamoris gets to his feet, tossing aside his stricken foe. Arms raised, he milks the applause from the crowd. Great submission!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:25 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Guillotine). Kyz Metamoris!
