Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, for the light heavyweight championship of the world!
Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of
10 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Texas Pete!
And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of
5 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Damien Sandow!
The judges for this bout are Winston Howard, Damien Edna and Skip Squint.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Sandow misses with a takedown attempt
and Pete counters with a straight right hand.
It looks like Damien Sandow has been cut.
Sandow throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Pete's waist but Pete gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Sandow off to one side.
Damien Sandow seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Pete connects with a lovely jab that went straight through the gap between Sandow's hands.
Sandow doesn't succeed with the takedown
and Pete counters with a slapping leg kick.
Texas Pete has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Damien Sandow.
Sandow shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it.
Sandow looks more muscular than last time we saw him. He must have been on the weights.
Pete delivers a nice body kick.
Pete has been working on his boxing with his coaches at LOD-Guts & Glory Gym in the buildup to the fight.
Sandow looks winded!
Pete throws a nice hook to the body that draws an oooh from the crowd.
Pete lands a head shot.
A telegraphed takedown attempt from Sandow is defended easily by Pete.
Pete bobs and weaves and then throws a good body kick.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Pete lands a powerful looking uppercut that connected with his opponent's jaw.
That's one minute gone in the round.
Pete throws a powerful right kick. Sandow tried to block low but the kick was high! Sandow was taken right off of his feet! Pete jumps in to finish the job and the ref tackles him! The fight is over!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:06 of round 1, we have a winner by way of KO (Head Kick). Texas Pete!
Texas Pete retains his light heavyweight title!
After winning the bout, Texas Pete thanked all his fans and promised he'd do even better in his next fight. The crowd seemed to love his humility.
In defeat, Damien Sandow stepped up to the mic, saying 'One of the best i have ever fought congratualtions to him he is the real deal '.
