Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Steve Leonard!
The judges for this bout are Leandro Rodrigues, Daniel Cesar and Thiago Cunha.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Mcdaniel tries a head kick but it misses.
Leonard fails with a takedown attempt.
Leonard shoots in but doesn't get the takedown
and Mcdaniel counters with a two punch combo.
Mcdaniel throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Leonard's waist but Leonard gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Mcdaniel off to one side.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Leonard feints and as Mcdaniel raises his hands in defense, Leonard changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard.

Leonard postures up as if he's going to throw some strikes but drops back for an ankle! Mcdaniel is in big trouble! He looks ready to tap! But no, he's escaped and dives on top of Leonard, into his guard.

Leonard lands a beautiful sweep and he's now moved into his opponent's guard.

My spies in EXEL VORTEX inform me that Leonard has been getting involved in the gym's BJJ sparring sessions. Let's see whether that pays dividends!
Mcdaniel will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.

Mcdaniel has had enough of the ground for now and decides to stand.

Leonard shoots in for a takedown but Mcdaniel shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet.
Mcdaniel wants to take advantage of his opponent's missed offense by moving into the clinch.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.

Leonard throws an elbow that misses. Mcdaniel uses the momentum to reverse the position. He's now in Leonard's guard. Nice move by Mcdaniel!

Leonard drops back looking for a heel hook - he quickly realises he's not going to get it but Mcdaniel manages to dive on top of him before he can escape and now Leonard has Mcdaniel in his guard.

That was a close second round but I would say that Quinton Mcdaniel will probably get the nod.
The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action! This is the final round!


Leonard shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Mcdaniel but Mcdaniel pushes him off and we're back to square one.

It looked like Mcdaniel was looking amped, ready to throw a big counter but didn't commit.

Steve Leonard seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Mcdaniel shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Leonard sprawls well. Leonard wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Mcdaniel gets slowly back to his feet.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
