PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Peter Parker (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Alastair Stirling (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). The crowd seem to be enjoying Stirling's choice of entrance music: Endgestalt - Sturmkrieger. These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, for the welterweight championship of the world!
Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 6 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Peter Parker!
And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 7 - 3 - 0, fighting out of New York, Alastair Stirling!
The judges for this bout are Daniel Franklin, Alan Glass and Frank Dennis.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Stirling takes a head kick and keeps coming.


It looks like Alastair Stirling has been cut.
Stirling scores with a punch to the gut of his opponent.
Parker takes a shot to the body in his stride.
Parker lands a nice leg kick that just misses Stirling's sensitive parts.
Parker misses with the combination.

Parker throws a loose over hand right and dives in with a double leg takedown. Stirling tries to sprawl but it's too late and the fighters hit the mat. Parker is in Stirling's guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Stirling avoiding any damage from the ground and pound.
Parker with a flurry of punches that miss.
Parker is in a tricky position. We've heard reports from his gym mates at Gym of the Gods that he's been drilling escapes, so let's see if he can get back to his feet.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Stirling is pulling down on Parker's head to control his posture.
Parker stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Stirling swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Stirling is avoiding any damage by keeping wrist control.

That's one minute gone in the round.
The referee wants the fighters to be more active or he's going to reset them on the feet.
Parker has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player.
Parker tries to free his leg and advance position but Stirling is retaining full guard.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity.

Stirling feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.
Stirling stands and throws Parker's legs to the side, diving into side control.
You can see the frustration on Parker's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.

Stirling rolls and manages to get back to half guard. Nicely done.
Stirling has his hands clasped together around Parker's back. He's all about the action.
Parker is looking to take a break and control but Stirling is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.

Parker is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Stirling doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Parker.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
Parker stalling.
Parker trying to control from half guard but Stirling is working away.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Peter Parker dominated that round.
The cut man is working on Alastair Stirling's cut.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.


Parker scores with a slapping inside leg kick.

Parker forces Stirling back against the cage and clinches.

Parker breaks the clinch.
Stirling ducks low and lands a nice hook to the body of his opponent.

Oh, that's a big right hand from Stirling and Parker goes tumbling to the canvas! Stirling follows him to the ground and looks to finish from half guard.


It looks like Peter Parker has been cut.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Parker avoiding damage under a succession of punches from Stirling.
Parker moves into full guard.
Stirling advances position into side control!
Stirling scores with punches from side control.
Parker is positioning himself to get back to half guard.
Stirling scores with a couple of nice shots to the head there. The referee takes a look at Parker to see if he's OK.

Stirling wants to control but Parker is keeping him busy.
Parker tries to get back to half guard but can't.
The strikes coming from Stirling are missing the target in this wave of attacks.

Stirling throwing strikes but Parker manages to buck up and roll into a nice reversal - now he's on top in side control!

My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.
Stirling is not content to let Parker control the position.

Parker decides to stand up, so the ref orders Stirling to his feet.
A decent looking body kick lands there for Parker.

Parker lands a left and a right that send Stirling crashing to the mat, dazed. Parker thinks about following him to the mat but decides to wave him back up to his feet!
A jab from Stirling misses.
Stirling listening to his corner there, landing a nice uppercut.
Parker throws a monster uppercut resembling something out of street fighter but it doesn't land.
Parker thumps Stirling with a low kick.

Oooh a lovely combination from Stirling sends Parker down but not out. Stirling dives into side control looking to finish.


Parker is rocked!
Stirling cracks Parker with a big elbow. Oh, he's hurt! Stirling immediately mounts and start dropping bombs! Parker is done! The referee jumps in and saves him from any more punishment - a quick and decisive finish by Stirling!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:58 of round 2, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Alastair Stirling!

Alastair Stirling decided to thank the fans in attendance for making a great atmosphere. It seemed to go down pretty well.
