PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Matthew Clay (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Rayjay Carter (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Carter is bobbing his head along to his entrance song: Black Betty. These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 5 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Rayjay Carter!
The judges for this bout are Tiny Johnson, Cecil Peabody and Stewart Dunkirk.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Clay drives through with a takedown into guard.
Carter wants to get back to his feet but Clay passes into half guard.


Carter looking for submissions from an awkward position here.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Clay seems content to maintain position for now, rather than mounting any offense.
Carter has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Clay is working away from the top position though.
Carter looks like he's trying to stand up.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Clay lands with an elbow from half guard - that looked like it hurt.
Carter wants to get back to his feet.

Carter is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.
Clay looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Carter with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Clay content to control rather than advance.
Carter is staying active underneath Clay, who seems content to just control the action from this position.
Carter is looking to improve his position.
Carter slips a foot under and gets full guard. Nice work.
Clay scoring with some ground and pound.
Clay stops Carter from standing up.

Clay tries to free his leg and advance position but Carter is retaining full guard.
Clay is working the ground and pound from guard. He might want to try advancing position though to get more of an impact.

The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
Carter takes a nasty elbow to the side of the head.

Clay is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Carter is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now.

A big shot lands for Clay! That's hurt Carter! Will he recover? Clay fires away with more strikes and the referee has to step in to stop the fight!

Matthew Clay was full of energy after the big win and talked about how he thinks he can do big things in this sport. The crowd were appreciative of his determination to succeed.
Rayjay Carter spoke after the fight, saying 'I would like to thank my fans for their continuing support. And I look forward to coming back and to prove myself.'.
