The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Alsop is looking to take this fight into the clinch.
Downes shoots for a double leg takedown but Alsop sprawls well. He's pushed Downes's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.
It looked like Alsop wanted to counter with a hook but didn't fully commit.
Alsop swings wildly with a hook that is half blocked by Downes.
Alsop dances in with a quick combination. Downes is being worked over with jabs and crosses. Oooh, a right straight from Alsop snaps Downes's head back. Downes stumbles backwards against the cage. Alsop steps forward and delivers a right cross that connects with Downes's jaw, simultaneously knocking him out and sending his mouthpiece into the crowd! There's a worthy souvenir for the fans. This one is over folks. Downes just didn't come prepared.

In his post fight interview, Fred Alsop started talking himself up. Luckily his charisma kept the crowd on side and gave him a good reception.
