Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Alfredo Capobianco (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Stanley Sharpe (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). The key to victory for Alfredo Capobianco has got to be keeping the fight on the feet.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 4 - 4 - 0, fighting out of New York, Alfredo Capobianco!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 3 - 0, fighting out of New York, Stanley Sharpe!
The judges for this bout are Alyssa Summers, Dean Styles and Eddie Farnsworth.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

A momentary lapse in concentration from Capobianco enables Sharpe to shoot in and score with a neat double leg. Capobianco manages to secure a closed guard as the fighters hit the mat.
Sharpe is just sitting in guard, looking to avoid any submissions.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Capobianco has his feet on Sharpe's hips. He pushes off and gets to his feet. Nice work.
Sharpe is looking to clinch.

Sharpe changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Capobianco looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.

Capobianco tries to strike from the bottom but it doesn't land.

Capobianco is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Sharpe is controlling him.
Capobianco lands a beautiful sweep and he's now moved into his opponent's guard.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
Capobianco stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Sharpe swivels though and keeps the full guard.

The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet.
Capobianco tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in to close the distance. Sharpe manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.

Sharpe lets the fists fly and connects with a left straight followed by a right hook.
Capobianco misses with a takedown attempt
and Sharpe makes him pay by landing a nice hook to the body before moving out of range.
Sharpe looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Capobianco is fending him off so far but Sharpe persists. Nope, Capobianco circles away and we're back to standing.
Capobianco slaps away a takedown attempt from Sharpe, before circling back to the center of the mat.

Sharpe closes the distance and gets a trip takedown into side control. Capobianco quickly recovers to half guard.

Capobianco tries to land a sweep but no joy.
Capobianco manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Sharpe manages to get himself to full guard.
Capobianco wants to pass the guard but Sharpe is keeping the position.

The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet.

Capobianco has closed the distance and engaged Sharpe in a clinch.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.
Sharpe changes levels and goes for a takedown here. Capobianco fights it off and pushes away nicely.
Alfredo Capobianco has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Stanley Sharpe.

Sharpe moves into the clinch successfully.

The referee walks around the fighters to get a better view of the action. Sharpe lands a nice short elbow.

The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.


Capobianco shoots in for a takedown but Sharpe shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet.
The fight stays on the outside here - Sharpe looks like he's thinking about clinching though.
Sharpe has been working on his striking defense in training and it's paying off as Capobianco is landing a low percentage of strikes.
Capobianco tries to clinch up but Sharpe circles away and keeps his distance.
Sharpe has been the more effective fighter overall so far.

Sharpe shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. Sharpe showed some decent athleticism there.
Sharpe is pressing down on Capobianco's thigh, looking to free his foot. Capobianco is holding on for now.

Sharpe slips a nice elbow through Capobianco's hands, connecting with Capobianco's forehead.

It looks like the ref is thinking about a standup.
Capobianco is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
Capobianco doesn't manage to clinch there - Sharpe circles away.

Sharpe closes the distance and clinches.
Sharpe tries to pull guard but Capobianco won't allow it.
Capobianco keeps the fight in the clinch, despite Sharpe's efforts to push away.
Capobianco lands a damaging elbow.


It looks like Stanley Sharpe has been cut.

Sharpe decides to pull guard.
Capobianco wants to stand but Sharpe has a closed guard, so he can't escape.
Sharpe is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

Capobianco gets to his feet - Sharpe follows without any prompting.

Sharpe shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Capobianco's guard.
Sharpe throws a big elbow that misses.

Capobianco escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Sharpe gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.
Sharpe is in close to Capobianco's body, working some short punches and elbows.
Capobianco not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.

Sharpe drops back looking for a heel hook - he quickly realises he's not going to get it but Capobianco manages to dive on top of him before he can escape and now Sharpe has Capobianco in his guard.

The referee claps his hands together and tells the fighters to work.

Sharpe is controlling Capobianco's posture.

The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet.
Sharpe shoots for a takedown but Capobianco saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.

Sharpe closes this distance looking for a takedown but Capobianco circles away.
As Sharpe looks to move away, Capobianco throws a big counter combo bu Sharpe just gets out of the way.

Stanley Sharpe showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.

The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action! This is the final round!

Capobianco shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Sharpe but Sharpe pushes him off and we're back to square one.
Capobianco goes for a double leg but Sharpe avoids the attempt and the two fighters end up clinched against the cage as Sharpe continues to drive forward.

Sharpe closes the distance and presses his opponent up against the cage.

Sharpe breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.

Capobianco gets caught on his heels momentarily as he allows Sharpe to score an easy takedown into full guard.

Capobianco is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.

and Sharpe takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles.

Sharpe jumps guard but Capobianco turns him against the cage and keeps the fight standing.

Sharpe tightens his grip and picks Capobianco up, before dumping him to the ground. Capobianco manages to land in guard.

Capobianco uses the cage to get back to his feet.
Stanley Sharpe is fighting for a decision - hopefully he's judged it right and he's actually winning the fight.
Sharpe tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Capobianco paws at him with a jab and circles away.
Sharpe goes for a double leg but Capobianco avoids the attempt and the two fighters end up clinched against the cage as Capobianco continues to drive forward.
Capobianco dips to his left and cracks Sharpe with an uppercut!

The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

Alfredo Capobianco has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!

And that's the end of the fight!
That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Alfredo Capobianco.
I think Sharpe has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
