Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Chang Mi (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Gunnar Nelson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). There are an array of beautiful celebrities at ringside tonight! I wonder if any of them paid for their tickets.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Chang Mi!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Gunnar Nelson!
The judges for this bout are Timothy Bukovac, and Don Winkell.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Mi's corner calls for a 1, 2 combination and Mi duly obliges.
Nelson fails miserably with a takedown attempt.
Nelson tries for a takedown but Mi circles away easily
and Mi counters with a one-two to the body.
Nelson shoots in for a double leg but Mi sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.
Chang Mi has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Gunnar Nelson.

Mi tries to sprawl but Nelson drives through with a takedown into half guard.
Mi keeping control of the position.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Nelson prevents Mi from improving his position.

Mi pulls Nelson in close to prevent any damage.
Mi lands a beautiful sweep and he's now moved into his opponent's guard.

Mi controls the pace of the fight for a moment.
Nelson wants to control but Mi passes easily into half guard.

My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.

Nelson has a hand on Mi's thigh, trying to get back to full guard. Mi takes advantage of the position though and mounts him!
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
Mi takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.

Mi is working for a guillotine from mount but Nelson frees his head quite easily.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Mi tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position.
Mi lands a nice shot to the head.

Mi can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Nelson is looking to escape.

Nelson sneaks a leg back under and regains half guard and is working straight away to try and get back to guard. He hasn't managed just yet though.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Chang Mi dominated that round.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.

Nelson shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in side control! That's better than Nelson was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure!
I wouldn't like to be where Mi is right now.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Nelson grinds an elbow into Mi's temple.
Mi wants to escape from the position here - easier said than done!

Chang Mi overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
Mi looks like he's trying to stand up.
Mi preventing any damage for now, controlling his opponent's head.
Mi on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if Mi tries to get out of the position.
Nelson thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Mi's head.

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.
Nelson prevents Mi from improving his position.
Nelson throwing punches and elbows but they're not doing any damage.
Mi trying to control here.
We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup.
Mi is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Nelson can do to turn this around?
Mi is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of Nelson's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take Nelson's back!
You can see the frustration on Nelson's face… He knows he is in trouble unless he improves his position sooner rather than later.

So, who will make the next big move? In this position it could be crucial.

The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business. This is the final round!



Mi shoots in and scores a nice double leg takedown into half guard.

Nelson has managed to escape just enough to sneak back to his feet but Mi is on him like a limpet, forcing Nelson back against the cage.
Mi is looking to score with knees to the body. Maybe he'll change it up and go body then head. Nelson is defending well for now.

Mi gets double underhooks and manages to take the fight to the ground.
Nelson tries to land a sweep but no joy.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Mi passes Nelson's right leg, so he's now in half guard.
Nelson tries to get to full guard but Mi has control of the leg.
Mi seems to have lost interest with the ground game and is thinking about standing back up.

Nelson is staying active underneath Mi, who seems content to just control the action from this position.
Well, if Mi is going to just lie there, perhaps we should talk about what we're having for dinner tonight… I'm having a ham and pineapple pizza… Yum. Can't wait.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Mi leaves Nelson with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.
Mi fails miserably with a takedown attempt.
Chang Mi is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.

Mi closes the distance and pushes Nelson back into the cage.

Nelson escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.

Gunnar Nelson comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
Well Mi has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
