PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Fedor Morozov (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Thomas Hawk (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Morozov comes to the cage accompanied by French Montana Ft. Yo Gotti - Clean Up. Hawk comes into a darkened arena with his song building. FreeBird kicks in, the lights come on and the crowd goes wild! What a showman! Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 10 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Fedor Morozov!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 9 - 5 - 1, fighting out of Tokyo, Thomas Hawk!
The judges for this bout are Sosuke Kotani, Ren Mimura and Yasuomi Hirokawa.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Hawk moves in looking to clinch but Morozov pushes him off.
Morozov attempts a counter takedown but Hawk avoids it well and moves away.
Morozov slips under a jab.
Morozov looks to have improved his striking defense since last time we saw him fight.
Hawk looks to land a combination but Morozov avoids it well.
Morozov appears to be looking for a counter takedown.
Hawk misses with a right hand

and Morozov counters with a nice double leg into half guard.
We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake.
Morozov slips a nice elbow through Hawk's hands, connecting with Hawk's forehead.
Hawk is trying to control but can't.
Morozov will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.
Hawk regains full guard. Nicely done.
Hawk throwing some rather feeble looking strikes off his back.
Hawk looking to sweep here. No luck so far.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Hawk keeping moving, preventing Morozov from controlling successfully.
Hawk preventing the ground and pound from doing any damage.
Hawk wants to sweep but no luck.

Morozov trying to control the position from guard on top but Hawk is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Hawk has a butterfly guard looking to sweep but Morozov has passed into side control.
Morozov working the head and body with strikes.
Hawk takes a couple of big shots there - the referee warns him that he has to defend himself better.
Hawk tries to bench press Morozov off him but Morozov keeps the position.
Morozov grinds an elbow into Hawk's temple.
Morozov works a knee to the body and follows up with a nice elbow to the head.
Check out the look on Morozov's face as he threw that strike - that's one determined fighter!

Hawk tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Morozov wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control.
Morozov wants to control but Hawk is keeping him busy.
Morozov advances nicely into full mount.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Morozov lands a nice shot to the head.
Hawk working to try and regain half guard.
Morozov pausing momentarily but resumes with a couple of decent strikes that do a bit of damage.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Hawk is rocked!
Morozov postures up and throws a couple of big shots that have Hawk in real trouble here! The ref calls for Hawk to improve his position which he doesn't do, so the referee has no choice but to end the fight due to the strikes!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:48 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Fedor Morozov!
In his post fight interview, Fedor Morozov gave a big smile as he said 'Russian do not surrender! I will prove to you that the Russian people is strong, not only physically, but also the spirit! Old glory !!'.
