Coming up we have a welterweight kickboxing rules bout between Paul Chan (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Basil Hastings (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 7 - 18 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Paul Chan!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 7 - 6 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Basil Hastings!
The judges for this bout are Paul Aken, Patrick Alders and Albert Achterberg.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Hastings jabbing away but nothing is landing.
Chan takes a push kick to the midsection and stumbles backwards.
Hastings moves into range and throws a combination. A nice jab followed by a hook to the body.


It looks like Paul Chan has been cut.
Chan tries to check a leg kick but that clearly hurt him.
Chan keeping his hands up high there, blocking the jab from Hastings.
Hastings throws a solid leg kick but Chan takes the impact on his shin and smiles at Hastings.
Hastings throws a jab when Chan was well out of range.
Chan misses with a kick to the body.

Hastings rushes Chan and presses him up against the ropes.
Hastings doesn't land with the attempted body shot.
Hastings has Chan pressed against the ropes, preventing Chan from circling away and getting back to striking at range.
A head punch blocked on the inside by Chan.

Chan breaks from the clinch.
Hastings tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Chan was well out of range. Poor timing from Hastings.
Hastings thuds his shin into the meat of Chan's side.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Chan tries a head kick but it misses.
Hastings has been working on his striking defense in training and it's paying off as Chan is landing a low percentage of strikes.

Nice defenses there by Chan.
Basil Hastings seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Hastings lands a leg kick that knocks Chan off balance momentarily.
Hastings misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
Hastings throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
Chan definitely looks more muscular than last time we saw him fight.

Hastings has taken the fight to the clinch.
Good body shot from Hastings.
Hastings misses with a body punch.
Hastings takes an elbow to the forehead.
A nice glancing elbow lands by Hastings.

Hastings breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Hastings jabs Chan to the body, keeping him at a distance.
Hastings tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.

Chan gets tackled into the ropes by Hastings. Hastings maintains the clinch.
Hastings prevents Chan from breaking the clinch.
Hastings has Chan pushed against the ropes.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Hastings misses with a hook to the ribs.
Chan is trying to break the clinch but Hastings has him pressed against the ropes.
Hastings misses the knee to the body. Nice hip positioning from Chan.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Chan wants to get back to striking at distance but Hastings won't allow it.
Chan tries to circle away but Hastings has him pinned against the ropes.
Hastings lands with a quick shot inside that doesn't really do much damage.
Chan tries a knee to the head but Hastings blocks it.
Hastings lands an uppercut.
Hastings tries to land knees in the clinch but Chan avoids the damage to the body.
Hastings tries to land a shot to the body but it's blocked.
Hastings trying to land knees to the body.
A short right hand to the side of the head by Hastings.
Chan is looking to break free of the clinch but Hastings has double underhooks.
Hastings misses with a shot to the kidneys.
Hastings goes for a body shot but it's blocked.
Hastings scores with a nice hook to the head.
Hastings goes for a body shot but it's blocked.
Chan tries to land a knee to the body but he is off balance and Hastings avoids it.
Hastings tries to land a shot to the body but it's blocked.
Hastings is looking to score with knees to the body. Maybe he'll change it up and go body then head. Chan is defending well for now.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Basil Hastings dominated that round.
The cut man is working on Paul Chan's cut.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.


Chan throws a sloppy head kick and Hastings moves out of range easily.
Hastings chopping away at his opponent's legs.
Hastings throws a leg kick but Chan checks it.
Hastings avoids the head kick by Chan.
Hastings catches Chan napping and connects with a fantastic 3 punch combination that sends Chan crashing to the mat! He's still conscious but he's all over the place - can he beat the count?!? 4,5,6,7,8...9...10! He didn't make it back to his feet! Hastings raises both arms skywards and takes in the roar from the crowd!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:24 of round 2, we have a winner by way of TKO (Punches). Basil Hastings!
After winning the bout, Basil Hastings thanked all his fans and promised he'd do even better in his next fight. The crowd seemed to love his humility.
