Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Valentin Padilla (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Yuri Boyka (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Boyka misses with a few strikes there.
Padilla wants to clinch up but Boyka keeps it at a distance.
Boyka tries a counter takedown but it's more of a dummy move, and he uses it to push himself away.

Padilla gets caught flat footed, as Boyka shoots in with a quick takedown into guard.
Padilla wants to get back to his feet but he's too absorbed in his own little project and Boyka manages to pass to side control.

The referee calls for the fighters to work.
Boyka thows a huge punch but Padilla dodges it nicely.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Neither fighter is being very active at the moment, with Boyka in particular looking to stall.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Boyka looks to score some points with some ground and pound.
Padilla could do with losing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely.
Padilla looks like he's trying to stand up.

Boyka is working for submissions here but there's nothing on.

Padilla is looking to control Boyka's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Padilla avoid being mounted?
Boyka has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Padilla is looking to improve his position.
Boyka is taking a breather. Padilla says something to him but it's hard to make out. Perhaps he's telling him to get on with it and actually do something.

Boyka is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Padilla defends it well.

The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity.
Boyka scores with a reasonable looking shot to the body. Padilla doesn't seem bothered though.

Boyka changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Padilla looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.
Padilla takes an elbow right on the bridge of the nose and winces in pain.
Padilla tries to improve position but can't.

Boyka scores with a couple of short elbows.
Boyka is maintaining the dominant position - no doubt Padilla will start to get frustrated soon if he's not already.
Padilla is moving his hips around well on the bottom and has managed to get back to half guard.

Padilla keeps control of the position for the meantime.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Padilla moves into the clinch.
Padilla tries to jump guard but he falls flat on his backside. Boyka smiles and moves away.
Padilla tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion.
Padilla takes a shot right to the liver - Bas would have been proud of that punch.
Yuri Boyka seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Padilla tries to clinch there but Boyka circles away.

Boyka closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Boyka lands in his opponent's guard.
Boyka wants to get up but he can't break Padilla's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here.

Boyka works his foot free and advances to mount.

Boyka has control of Padilla's right arm, working for a kimura. It's a bit of a token attempt though and Padilla regains control of the situation pretty easily.
Boyka throws some wild stikes that Padilla manages to avoid easily.
Padilla wants to hold on but Boyka pushes him away.

Padilla has left one of his arms exposed and Boyka doesn't need a second invitation. He's isolated it and locked on a tight armbar. Padilla screams and taps out, obviously in a lot of pain. Hopefully there isn't permanent damage to that arm.
