Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Modesto Hodges (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and de Day (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of London, Modesto Hodges!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, de Day!
The judges for this bout are Donald Grub, Sam Margolis and James Atkins.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Day clinches with his opponent.

Day pulls guard successfully.
Hodges prevents Day from getting back to his feet.
Day has a closed guard, preventing Hodges from standing up.
Day controlling Hodges's posture.
There's a bit of a scramble here and now Day is on top in guard.

Day passes Hodges's left leg - he's now in half guard.
Hodges is trying to defend against the ground and pound but Day scores with a couple of nice shots.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Day trying to control the pace.
Hodges could do with losing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely.
Day seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Hodges does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.

Day is taking a breather. Hodges says something to him but it's hard to make out. Perhaps he's telling him to get on with it and actually do something.

Day is nestled in close to Hodges, controlling him well. He's worked in a nice elbow to the side of the head as well, for good measure.

Day is looking to stand up but he'll have to free his leg first. Instead, Hodges manages to get to full guard.
Hodges is trying to control the position but Day postures up.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Day passes Hodges's right leg, so he's now in half guard.
The referee calls for the fighters to work.

Day wants to work for an arm triangle but Hodges is really keeping half guard well and defending the submission attempt.
The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
Hodges is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.
Day with a momentary lay and pray from half guard.
Day is looking to take a break and control but Hodges is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.

Day is keeping good posture, landing some ground and pound.
Day is trying to get back to his feet now but his leg is trapped.
Hodges moves his hips nicely and gets into full guard.
Day passes easily into side control. Nice work.
Hodges might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.

Day stands up.
de Day seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Hodges blocks a head kick by Day.
Day is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.
Hodges showing good head movement there, avoiding the strikes from Day.

Day clinches.

Hodges fails to pull the fight into his guard.

Day drags the fight down to the ground.
Hodges throwing strikes but missing.
Hodges has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player.
Day has a closed guard, preventing Hodges from standing up.

Day had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Hodges defends it easily.
Day trying to control the position here.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Hodges is looking to stand up but Day won't let him.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Day fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Hodges avoids it really well and circles away.

Hodges fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Day, pushing him back against the cage.
Hodges drops to a knee looking for a takedown but Day gets the underhooks and prevents it.
Hodges is trying to work for a single leg takedown but Day pulls him back up using the underhooks.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Day pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.

Hodges gets tackled into the cage by Day. Day maintains the clinch.
Hodges scores with an uppercut up the middle.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Hodges jumps guard but Day turns him against the cage and keeps the fight standing.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Modesto Hodges. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Hodges is trying to pull guard but Day turns him against the cage and we stay in the clinch.
Hodges tries to jump guard but he falls flat on his backside. Day smiles and moves away.
Hodges shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Day as he jumps to the side.
Hodges tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Day paws at him with a jab and circles away.
Hodges looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.
Day is looking for the big counter here.
Day misses with a head kick.

Hodges fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Day avoids it really well and circles away.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Hodges tries to clinch but Day is having none of it.
A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Day.
Day throws a wild body kick that Hodges sees coming a mile off.

Day fakes a strike and closes the distance, dragging Hodges to the ground. Day is now in Hodges's guard.
Day controlling from the top position.
Day makes a bit of distance and scores with some ground and pound, still in guard.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Day sitting in guard, not really doing much.
Hodges can't keep his opponent in guard - Day advances to half guard, no doubt looking to mount.
Day throwing shots but Hodges is blocking nicely.
Hodges is in trouble now - Day has advanced to mount!
Day content just to control the position here.
Hodges working to try and regain half guard.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Day is in the full mount, landing strikes.
Hodges really trying hard to get back to half guard here.
Hodges takes a big shot to the head but keeps on trying to improve his position.
Day working the ground and pound effectively.
Day is landing with some decent strikes but Hodges is trying to advance his position so the referee is letting the fight continue.
Hodges can't escape the position.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Day working away from the top, dropping strikes.
Day controlling the pace for now.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

de Day showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action. And we move into the final round!



Day drops down and drives through with a powerful takedown into guard.
Hodges looking to control but Day passes into half guard.
Day working over Hodges with some ground and pound. Hodges looks like he wants out of this position, which is understandable.
Hodges wants to control the action here but instead Day manages to pass to full mount!
Hodges is trying to reverse the position but instead Day has taken his back - oops!
Day controls the position.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Hodges is trying to defend against the choke here but Day has an arm under his chin. This one might not last much longer. Day Tightens the hold and Hodges taps out furiously! Day displays superior BJJ to win the fight.
