PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Viper Prince (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Bryan Bishop (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Prince comes to the cage accompanied by Don Trip-Feelin like mike. Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 4 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Viper Prince!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 36 - 34 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Bryan Bishop!
The judges for this bout are Leandro Rodrigues, Mauricio Rocha and Paulo Santos.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
We've got one fighter who appears to only be looking to counter and the other not looking particularly aggressive either, so we could be in for a dull fight.

Bishop closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard.
Bishop looking to pass the half guard. Not this time.
Bishop throwing shots but Prince is blocking nicely.
Bishop takes a deep breath and rests his weight momentarily on top of his opponent, to control the position.
Bishop has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.
Bishop thows a huge punch but Prince dodges it nicely.
Bishop looks over to his corner - he wants some instructions but his corner are not responding.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Bishop thows a huge punch but Prince dodges it nicely.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Prince keeping his head moving to avoid the ground and pound.
Bishop wants to pass the guard but Prince is defending well.
Bishop is still trying to improve position.
Prince blocking the ground and pound attempt from Bishop.
Bishop not throwing his punches with enough precision this time.
Prince really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.
Prince is trying to stand back up but Bishop is controlling him

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.

Bishop gets the takedown into side control.
Prince is in a tricky position but he's been working on his transitions down at Soul Supremacy Rio, so we'll see if he gets out of it.
Bishop throws an elbow but Prince slips to the side and avoids it well.
Bishop creates some space and throws a big elbow, but Prince sees it coming and moves his head just enough to avoid the strike.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Bishop tries to land with some ground and pound but misses.
Bishop is pausing for a moment. What's he doing? It looks like he's clearing his nose. Oh dude! He's shot a load of snot all down Prince's shoulder. That is not cool.
Let's hope that Bishop has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight.
Bishop lands a knee to the body and a forearm to the face.
Bishop misses with the ground and pound.
Bishop throws a knee to the body but it doesn't do much damage.

Bishop's corner are shouting for him to control the position and he seems happy to oblige.

Bishop trying to control the position but Prince is working away.
Bishop in side control lands a decent elbow.
Prince takes a couple of big shots there - the referee warns him that he has to defend himself better.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
Bishop throwing strikes but Prince manages to buck up and roll into a nice reversal - now he's on top in side control!
The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
Prince throwing ground and pound but whilst doing so, he forgets to control position and Bishop works his way back to half guard. Good composure under pressure.
Prince thows a wild elbow that connects with the canvas.
Bishop gets back to full guard.
Prince has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player.
Bishop pulls Prince in close to prevent any damage.
Our spies down at at The Warehouse inform us that Bishop has really been working on his submissions in the buildup to this fight. Will it pay off?
Prince throws a strike but Bishop rolls with it and manages to sweep. Now he's in guard on top.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Bishop controls the pace of the fight for a moment.
Bishop postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.
Prince keeping full guard, as Bishop tries to pass.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Bryan Bishop dominated that round.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.


Bishop throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.

Bishop drives through with a takedown into guard.

Prince manages to escape and get back to his feet.

Bishop gets a takedown into half guard.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Bishop winds up and cracks Prince with a swinging punch to the side of the head.
Bryan Bishop has got the better of the ground game so far.
Prince tries to kick Bishop off but Bishop keeps his base steady and stays in half guard.

The referee calls for the fighters to work.
Bishop not throwing his punches with enough precision this time.
Prince is staying active underneath Bishop, who seems content to just control the action from this position.
Prince is trying to stand back up but Bishop is controlling him
Bishop not landing any meaningful shots this time.
Prince is trying to stand.
Bishop seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Prince does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.
Bishop seems to be taking a bit of a break to think of his next move. He lands a short punch in the meantime.
Prince is refusing to be controlled, as Bishop sits in half guard.
Bishop might have to switch it up a bit here because his efforts to control Prince haven't been going to plan, at least at the current moment in time.

My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.
Bishop lands a big elbow - Prince is out of it! He's waving his arms around but his eyes are closed and he's not intelligently defending himself - the ref has no choice but to jump in and stop the fight! This one is in the books! A TKO win for Bishop!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:22 of round 2, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Bryan Bishop!
