PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a super heavyweight MMA rules bout between Miles Larson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Mad Max (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the super heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Miles Larson!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Mad Max!
The judges for this bout are Steve Smith, Elvis Blanc and Gregory Folan.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Max tries to score with an inside leg kick but telegraphs it and Larson is able to avoid easily.

and Max counters with a single leg into guard. Larson didn't expect that.

Max got a little sloppy there for a moment and Larson has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Max has managed to get both his arms back between Larson's legs - danger averted.

Max is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there.

Larson looking for submissions from the bottom here. Moving his hips around, possibly looking for an armbar.
Max lands a couple of decent looking shots.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Max won't allow Larson to get back to his feet.

Max must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.

Larson has his foot on Max's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Max works his way back into a safe position though.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Larson trying to strike from the bottom but really, it's not the best position to be doing that from!
Max is looking to stand up but Larson won't let him.
Max stands up over Larson, holding his feet. He dives back in and lands a decent shot to the head.
Larson will have to put a bit more behind his punches if he's going to do any damage from this position.
Max has decided he wants to stand but the closed guard of Larson is proving hard to escape from.

The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet.

Max keeping a good distance there, avoiding the body shot.
Max is loading up here, looking for a big counter of his own.

Max closes the distance and scores a nice trip takedown into half guard. Larson did well to prevent Max getting side control.

Larson has one foot on Max's thigh - he pushes off and manages to get back to his feet.
Larson is breathing heavily.
Max's corner calls for a 1, 2 combination and Max duly obliges.


It looks like Miles Larson has been cut.
Larson looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Max is fending him off so far but Larson persists. Nope, Max circles away and we're back to standing.
And an attempted straight right on the counter from Max! But no joy.

Max drives through with a really nice takedown into side control.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Larson bucks up and manages to escape back to his feet!
Max throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
Max blocks the body kick.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Larson with a poor takedown

and Max counters with a shoot takedown. Larson fights it but they end up in guard.
Larson throws a couple of shots from the bottom but they don't land.
Max trying to control the position from guard on top but Larson is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.

Larson working for submissions but it's allowed Max to get to half guard.
Larson has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Max is working away from the top position though.
Larson is staying active underneath Max, who seems content to just control the action from this position.
Larson gets full guard.
Max has decided he wants to stand but the closed guard of Larson is proving hard to escape from.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close round but I would say that Miles Larson will probably get the nod.

The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.


Max stuffs the takedown attempt from Larson. Larson gets slowly back to his feet.
Max tries for a takedown but Larson circles away easily

and Larson counters by clinching up.

Larson is working on a single leg takedown against the cage. Max can't fight it off and eventually Larson manages to take the fight to the floor. Max looks annoyed but at least he's managed to land in guard.
A real slowdown in the pace of the fight for a moment, as Max holds on and takes a little breather.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Larson stands up from guard. Let's bang!
Max fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.
Larson goes for a spinning back kick but it misses.
Miles Larson is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.

Larson scores a trip takedown into side control. Nice.

That's two minutes gone in the round.

Larson tries for a kimura. Not really close to a finish though.

Larson is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Max is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now.
Max can't do much from the bottom here.

Max wants to improve his position, back to half guard but Larson has ideas of his own. He's got hold of Max's far side arm and it looks like he's got an Americana. Ohh! Ohhhh! OOOOOOOOOH! A human being's arm is not meant to bend like that! Max is tapping like a morse code operator on the Titanic! SOS SOS! He's out of here! Great win for Larson!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:18 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (Americana). Miles Larson!
