Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Junior Bowers (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Douglas Griffin (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Douglas Griffin will no doubt be trying to keep this one on the feet, where he has a distinct advantage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 3 - 2 - 0, fighting out of London, Junior Bowers!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, Douglas Griffin!
The judges for this bout are James Ackerman, Andrew Berry and James Atkins.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Griffin gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily

and Bowers counters with a nice double leg into half guard.
Griffin on the receiving end of some nice ground and pound.
Griffin keeps control of the position for the meantime.

Griffin wants to get back to full guard.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Griffin tries to clinch up but Bowers circles away and keeps his distance.
Griffin displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Bowers.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.

Bowers gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard.

Griffin is stalling in the full guard.
Bowers will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
The fighters are going at a pretty good pace and they're both starting to sweat now.

Bowers controls Griffin momentarily but Griffin frees himself.

Bowers has his foot on Griffin's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Griffin works his way back into a safe position though.

Griffin wants to get up but he can't break Bowers's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.
Griffin controls the pace of the fight for a moment.
Bowers keeping full guard, as Griffin tries to pass.
Bowers really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.

The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet.
Griffin shoots in looking for a takedown. Bowers tries to sprawl out of it but Griffin keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Bowers manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.

Bowers shoots in and gets a takedown into Griffin's guard.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!

That was a close round but I would say that Junior Bowers will probably get the nod.

Griffin tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.

Bowers forces Griffin back against the cage and clinches.
Griffin tries to pull guard but Bowers holds him up against the cage and eventually Griffin drops back down to his feet.

Griffin is trying to trip Bowers. He has hold of a leg but Bowers is hopping around, keeping his balance for the moment. Griffin persists though and gets the takedown into guard.

Griffin drops back looking for a heel hook - he quickly realises he's not going to get it but Bowers manages to dive on top of him before he can escape and now Griffin has Bowers in his guard.

Bowers has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Griffin is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Bowers is controlling him.
Griffin wants to sweep here but Bowers controlling him for the moment.

Griffin shoots for a double leg takedown but Bowers sprawls well. He's pushed Griffin's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.

The fight moves into the clinch position.
Bowers fails to pull the fight into his guard.

Griffin misses the knee to the body. Nice hip positioning from Bowers.

Griffin slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up.

Griffin must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.

Bowers has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Griffin can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action. This is the final round!

Griffin misses with a takedown attempt - Bowers sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.
A quick step to the side and Bowers tries to counter with a shot to the body but it doesn't connect.

Griffin tries to jump guard but he falls flat on his backside. Bowers smiles and moves away.

Griffin shoots in but Bowers avoids the takedown attempt easily.
Griffin fails miserably with a takedown attempt.

Bowers moves into the clinch.
Griffin drops down for a takedown but doesn't get it.
The referee calls for Bowers to work.

Griffin is looking for a takedown up against the cage. Bowers gets underhooks though and prevents the takedown attempt.

Bowers shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Griffin sprawls well. Griffin wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Bowers gets slowly back to his feet.

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.

Bowers drives through with a really nice takedown into side control.
Bowers throws a knee to the body but it doesn't do much damage.
Griffin gets back to half guard.

Junior Bowers is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.

Well Bowers has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
