Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Willie Sampson!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Budpain Smith!
The judges for this bout are Frank Dennis, Gwen Towbar and Chris Downing.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Smith gets the takedown into side control.

Sampson throws Smith to one side and escapes!

Smith clinches up against the cage.
Sampson could do with losing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely.

Smith ties up his opponent against the cage and manages to drag the fight down to the ground. Smith no doubt will be looking to work submissions from his guard.
Smith is adopting a defensive guard.
Sampson working some ground and pound from guard but it's not doing any damage.
Sampson throws an elbow that misses. Smith uses the momentum to reverse the position. He's now in Sampson's guard. Nice move by Smith!
Smith is pushing down on Sampson's leg trying to pass to half guard. Sampson is fighting to maintain full guard but Smith has managed to sneak the leg through.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Sampson wants to improve his position but Smith is controlling well.
Sampson moves his hips nicely and gets into full guard.

Smith is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Sampson wants to control but Smith is keeping him busy.

Sampson is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Smith is just riding it out for now. Sampson eventually gives up the hold.
Sampson wants to lay and pray for a moment but Smith keeps working.
Smith is trying to defend against the ground and pound but Sampson scores with a couple of nice shots.
Smith is looking to control Sampson's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Smith avoid being mounted?

Sampson looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Sampson looks to score some points with some ground and pound.
Smith is looking for a sweep. Sampson is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.
Sampson throws a strike but Smith avoids it easily and moves to full guard.

Smith working for a triangle but Sampson defends it easily.

Smith had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Sampson defends it easily.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Sampson lands a nice shot whilst sitting in his opponent's guard.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!



Smith shoots in looking for a single leg takedown. Sampson is trying to defend but Smith finishes it well and ends up in half guard. Let's see if he can advance position further.
Sampson wants to get back to full guard.
Willie Sampson overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
Sampson has a hand on Smith's thigh, trying to get back to full guard. Smith takes advantage of the position though and mounts him!
Sampson manages to regain half guard. Good work.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Smith wants to stand but Sampson is holding on to him, trying to stop him posturing up.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Sampson wants to get back to full guard but Smith has passed into side control.
Sampson is trying to get back to half guard. He's pushing on Smith's leg. He's managed it. Nice work.
Smith seems content to maintain position for now, rather than mounting any offense.
Sampson tries to get to full guard but Smith has control of the leg.
Smith is keen to just control but Sampson is a slippery customer.
Smith is taking a breather. Sampson says something to him but it's hard to make out. Perhaps he's telling him to get on with it and actually do something.
Smith works his way into full mount!

Sampson throwing punches from his back but nothing is landing.
Sampson is looking to improve his position but Smith isn't that keen on the idea.
Smith lands a couple of nice shots there from mount.
Smith looking to control and managing it successfully.
Sampson is in a horrible position here. Smith smacks him with another shot as he tries to escape the position.
Sampson tries to get back to half guard but can't.
Smith controlling from the full mount.
Sampson keeping his composure momentarily, calmly looking to get back to half guard.

A nice elbow there by Smith.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Smith takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.
Sampson looking to escape from mount but he's given up his back!

Sampson is staying cool under pressure, defending well against the rear naked choke attempt from his opponent.
Sampson is defending well here and trying to improve his position.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
A bit of a pause in the action here. Smith controlling the positon.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Budpain Smith showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action. This is the final round!



Smith shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. Smith showed some decent athleticism there.
Sampson wants to improve his position but Smith is controlling well.

Sampson is rocked!

Smith stands up from half guard.
Oh Sampson is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!!

Smith shoots in for a takedown. Oh, that's a huge slam! Sampson is on queer street and Smith is pounding down on him with a barage of strikes. The ref is forced to step in and stop the fight. Great finish!
