Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 5 - 0, fighting out of London, Donnell Santos!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, Iasonas Papadopoulos!
The judges for this bout are James Ackerman, Phil Schofield and Daniel Bishop.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Excellent takedown into side control there by Papadopoulos.
Santos could do with losing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely.
Papadopoulos throwing ground and pound but whilst doing so, he forgets to control position and Santos works his way back to half guard. Good composure under pressure.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Santos wants to improve his position but Papadopoulos is controlling well.
Santos gets back to full guard.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Papadopoulos tries to stand but Santos is controlling from the bottom.

Papadopoulos would like to get this fight back to the feet but can't get free from the closed guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.

Papadopoulos closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard.

Santos manages to create a bit of space in order to work his way back to his feet. Papadopoulos keeps hold of his opponent and drives him back against the cage.

Santos drops back looking for a heel hook - he quickly realises he's not going to get it but Papadopoulos manages to dive on top of him before he can escape and now Santos has Papadopoulos in his guard.

That was a close round but I would say that Donnell Santos will probably get the nod.
OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.


Santos tries to score a power double leg takedown but Papadopoulos sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Santos somewhat.

Iasonas Papadopoulos seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Papadopoulos fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Santos sprawls well initially but Papadopoulos persists and gets the takedown into half guard.

Papadopoulos is looking for a kimura but Santos is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Papadopoulos to get the leverage.

Papadopoulos swings around for an armbar but it's a sloppy attempt and Santos is now in Papadopoulos's guard. A big mistake from Papadopoulos there, giving up the dominant position!

Iasonas Papadopoulos showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
That's time! Santos's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight. Let's get this one finished - here comes the final round!

Papadopoulos doesn't manage to clinch there - Santos circles away.

Papadopoulos drives through with a really nice takedown into side control.

Santos is sneaking out the side here. He's bucked Papadopoulos off and has taken his back!

Papadopoulos is displaying good submission defense - not really looking in danger of submitting to the rear naked choke at the moment. That could change in an instant of course if Santos gets his way!
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Santos is working for the rear naked choke. He has one arm under the chin but Papadopoulos has hold of the other arm. A bit of a stalemate here.

You can see the frustration on Papadopoulos's face… He knows he is in trouble unless he improves his position sooner rather than later.

Santos is working really hard to secure the rear naked choke. Papadopoulos defends successfully for a significant amount of time. Both fighters are looking very determined.

Papadopoulos tries to escape the position - he's now mounted. Is that better or worse? Hard to tell!

Santos gets to his feet and calls his opponent to stand. Here come the fireworks!
Santos throws a body kick but he was well out of range there.

A momentary lapse in concentration from Santos enables Papadopoulos to shoot in and score with a neat double leg. Santos manages to secure a closed guard as the fighters hit the mat.
Santos is looking to stand up but Papadopoulos isn't so interested in that idea.

That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Donnell Santos.
