Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Gerardo Avila (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Michael Jardim (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). The key to victory for Gerardo Avila has got to be keeping the fight on the feet.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 4 - 0, fighting out of London, Gerardo Avila!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, Michael Jardim!
The judges for this bout are Colin Fotheringham, William Gold and Donald Grub.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Jardim fakes a strike and closes the distance, dragging Avila to the ground. Jardim is now in Avila's guard.
Jardim is stalling in the full guard.
Avila trying to keep a closed guard but Jardim is proving a slippery customer.
Jardim controlling from the guard. I say controlling but really, he's stalling.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
It looks like Jardim might be adopting somewhat of a lay and pray gameplan here, which I'm sure won't go down too well with the paying fans in attendance... Or the ring announcers come to think of it.
Avila might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.

We may be looking at a referee standup if the pace doesn't pick up soon.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Jardim is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.
Jardim has a nice red mark on his side after a thudding body kick by Avila.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

You can see the frustration on Avila's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.

Jardim's corner are shouting for him to control the position and he seems happy to oblige.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.

Excellent takedown into side control there by Jardim.
Jardim content to control the pace. The referee will try and keep them active though.
Jardim with more of the same as he continues to hold on.

Avila tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in to close the distance. Jardim manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.

Jardim controls the pace of the fight for a moment.
Avila wants to stand up but Jardim is controlling him.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Jardim stays in close to Avila's body and controls the position.
Jardim is continuing to stall.

The referee claps his hands together and tells the fighters to work.

Avila tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Jardim was well out of range. Poor timing from Avila.
Jardim is trying to counter with his kicks.

Jardim decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard.
Jardim is taking a breather. Avila says something to him but it's hard to make out. Perhaps he's telling him to get on with it and actually do something.
Avila has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Jardim is working away from the top position though.

Jardim looks for a takedown. He's got it. We're now in half guard.
Jardim with a momentary lay and pray from half guard.
Jardim prevents Avila from standing back up.
Jardim keeping composed on the top, looking to control the action.
Jardim has been the more effective fighter overall so far.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity.

Jardim bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.
Jardim content to control the pace. The referee will try and keep them active though.

Michael Jardim showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action. This is the final round!


Avila tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion.
Avila throws a series of punches but Jardim avoids them all with ease.

Jardim shoots in and gets a takedown into Avila's guard.

Jardim feints and as Avila raises his hands in defense, Jardim changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard.

Jardim seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up.

Avila is looking to regain half guard here but Jardim keeps moving and retains side control.
