Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Denny Cardenas!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Anestis Papadopoulos!
The judges for this bout are Igor Prikhodko, Konstantin Menshow and Illya Tyunina.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Papadopoulos misses with a kick to the body.
Cardenas fails with the takedown.
Papadopoulos is loading up here, looking for a big counter of his own.

Papadopoulos gets a takedown into half guard.
Cardenas is not content to let Papadopoulos control the position.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Cardenas is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of Papadopoulos's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take Papadopoulos's back!

Cardenas has the hooks in. Papadopoulos is trying to push off one leg but he has to do so cautiously to avoid being submitted.
Cardenas is throwing strikes from the back here. Oh that last one was to the back of the head. Cardenas gets a warning from the referee. He throws another strike to the back of the head straight away though and the referee has seen enough. He breaks up the two fighters and stands them back up. Cardenas gets a real talking to here and is lucky not to get a point deducted. Cardenas apologises and we restart here on the feet.

Cardenas has Papadopoulos up against the cage in a clinch.

Papadopoulos jumps guard and drags Cardenas to the mat. He's obviously going to be looking for submissions off his back.

Cardenas keeping moving, preventing Papadopoulos from controlling successfully.
Cardenas has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
Papadopoulos wants to stand and escape but instead Cardenas has hit a sweep and he's now on top in guard.
Cardenas will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.
Cardenas is looking to work some ground and pound but Papadopoulos has wrist control.
Papadopoulos is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
Cardenas won't allow Papadopoulos to get back to his feet.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.

Papadopoulos working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Cardenas doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Cardenas manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.
Cardenas is just sitting in guard, looking to avoid any submissions.

Cardenas gets to his feet. Papadopoulos looking to butt scoot but the ref puts an end to that. On your feet son!
Cardenas fails to land the takedown.
Papadopoulos unleashes a big counter combination but Cardenas bobs and weaves and avoids any damage.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!

Cardenas sets himself, and Papadopoulos steps forward looking for the clinch! Cardenas avoids it this time.

A close round but Anestis Papadopoulos will probably get the nod.

Papadopoulos scores with a nice takedown into half guard. Let's see what he's got on the ground.

Cardenas pushes Papadopoulos off and gets back to his feet.
Anestis Papadopoulos seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Papadopoulos throws a front kick that sends Cardenas stumbling back into the cage.
Cardenas throws a right hand that Papadopoulos ducks under and follows up with a left that Papadopoulos also avoids with ease.

Papadopoulos gets control of Cardenas's arms and successfully pulls guard. Papadopoulos will no doubt be looking for submissions off his back.

Papadopoulos wants to get back to his feet but Cardenas is in a dominant position and won't allow it.

Cardenas drops back looking for a leg! Papadopoulos is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Papadopoulos manages to kick Cardenas off! Cardenas jumps back into Papadopoulos's guard.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Cardenas decides to stand up and beckons his opponent to follow.

Papadopoulos throws an elbow that misses. Cardenas uses the momentum to reverse the position. He's now in Papadopoulos's guard. Nice move by Cardenas!

Cardenas thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position.

Cardenas seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up.

Cardenas stands over his opponent and dives in with a flying punch! Papadopoulos throws up his legs and catches Cardenas in a triangle! Oh this looks tight! Cardenas tries to escape but he's forced to tap! Wow, fantastic work there by Papadopoulos! That came out of nowhere!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:38 of round 3, we have a winner by way of Submission (Triangle Choke). Anestis Papadopoulos!
