The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Turkinen tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in to close the distance. Blackwell manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.
Blackwell wants to counter with a clinch but Turkinen pushes him away.

Turkinen closes the distance and presses his opponent up against the cage.
Blackwell is trying to break the clinch but Turkinen is controlling him.

Blackwell is fighting off a takedown attempt but Turkinen is just too persistent for him and manages to trip Blackwell to the mat. Blackwell regains guard as soon as the fighters hit the mat.

Blackwell is looking for a triangle here but Turkinen uses the submission attempt to pass into side control.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Turkinen is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Blackwell is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now.

Turkinen wants to lay and pray for a moment but Blackwell keeps working.
Blackwell is working hard to escape and get back to his feet. After a battle for position, Turkinen asserts his dominance and retains side control.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Turkinen lands a knee to the body and follows it up with some ground and pound to the head. That will wear Blackwell down.
Turkinen has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.

The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
