PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Felix Flashlighter (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Bakung Monk (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Flashlighter comes to the ring accompanied by Aerosmith - Lightning Strikes. Monk has chosen X Amount of Words- Blue October as his entrance music. Felix Flashlighter has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 5 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Felix Flashlighter!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 4 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Bakung Monk!
The judges for this bout are Ben Zyskovitsi, Johanna Lukiainen and Anni Minnemäki.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Flashlighter shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it.
Monk misses with a two punch combination.
Flashlighter misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out.
Monk cracks Flashlighter with a good jab.
Monk misses with the combination.
Felix Flashlighter seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Flashlighter swats away the attempt to clinch by Monk.
Flashlighter throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
Well, he's not going to score with shots like that. A lazy body kick attempt from Monk.
Flashlighter shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Monk pinned against the cage. Monk gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Felix Flashlighter. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Monk shoots in for a takedown but Flashlighter shows good takedown defense.
Monk misses with a head kick.
Monk throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Flashlighter.

Flashlighter throws a jab, cross combination which is slipped

and Monk counters with a shoot takedown. Flashlighter fights it but they end up in guard.
Flashlighter trying to keep a closed guard but Monk is proving a slippery customer.
Flashlighter lands a beautiful switch and he's in full mount! That could spell trouble for Monk!
Flashlighter has his opponent pinned against the ropes, landing some nasty ground and pound that is really making a bit of a mess out of Monk's face.
Monk wants to use the ropes to get back to his feet here.
Flashlighter postures up and cracks his opponent a couple of times before moving back into close ground control. Monk looks a forlorn figure.
Flashlighter takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.

Flashlighter wants to finish this one by submission but Monk is holding onto his waist, trying to prevent any attacks from Flashlighter.

Flashlighter with shots to the head and body - Monk looks very uncomfortable down there.
Flashlighter lands a nice shot to the head.
Monk is trying to stand.
Flashlighter has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
Monk is squirming around, avoiding Flashlighter's attempts to control the action.
Flashlighter prevents Monk from getting the reversal.
Flashlighter breaks from Monk's wrist control and lands an elbow.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Monk is working to get back to half guard.
Monk wants to use the ropes to get back to his feet here.

Flashlighter jumps to the side looking to secure the arm triangle…. Ooooh, that looks tight… Monk is gargling but he's managed to escape! Nice work there by Monk and Flashlighter has given up the dominant position trying to land that submission.
Flashlighter cracks Monk with an elbow. That is naaassty.
Monk is looking to reverse the position.

Monk is not content to let Flashlighter control the position.
Monk is looking for a sweep.
Flashlighter is looking to take a break and control but Monk is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
Monk wants to get back to his feet.

Flashlighter works a knee to the body and follows up with a nice elbow to the head.
Flashlighter is chipping away with strikes.

Flashlighter trying to control the action but Monk is working from the bottom.
Flashlighter lands a nice forearm strike.
Monk can't do much from the bottom here.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close round but I would say that Felix Flashlighter will probably get the nod.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.

Flashlighter tries for a kimura. Not really close to a finish though.
The fighters are trapped in the ropes so we're going to have a reposition here. The ref calls for a break and repositions the fighters in the center of the ring.
Monk regains half guard.
Monk is breathing heavily.
Flashlighter is working hard to pass the guard. He's done it - he's now in full mount! Trouble for Monk!

Monk takes a big shot to the head but keeps on trying to improve his position.

The referee warns Monk that he has to improve his position here as he takes two more clean shots to the head.

Monk is in a horrible position here. Flashlighter smacks him with another shot as he tries to escape the position.

Felix Flashlighter overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.

The fighters are tangled up in the ropes here. We might need a restart if the fighters can't break free themselves.
Flashlighter lands an elbow that was bordering on illegal but the referee lets it go with a warning.

The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Monk is desperately trying to improve his position but Flashlighter has a good base and remains in mount.

Flashlighter pausing momentarily but resumes with a couple of decent strikes that do a bit of damage.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Felix Flashlighter dominated that second round.
The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action! This is the final round!


Monk throws a sloppy head kick
and Flashlighter counters with a huge uppercut, hook combination that drops Monk! The ref has seen enough - he's dived in to stop the fight! Brutal strikes by Flashlighter!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:05 of round 3, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Felix Flashlighter!
