Monroe's ring entrance music is that housewives' favourite, Deep Ocean - Island drumming. Both fighters look pumped up here. Let's hope this is a good fight!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Herve fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Monroe manages to avoid it.
Herve throws a big shot that misses.
Monroe looks for a takedown but Herve sprawls well.
Herve shoots in for a takedown but Monroe shows good takedown defense.
A little feinted left hand from Monroe on the counter but he doesn't commit to it.
Monroe has been talking about how he's improved his wrestling in the run up to the fight so let's see if that's enough to sway the balance.
Herve tried to score with a low kick but Monroe checks it.

The fighters circle momentarily. Herve darts into range and connects with a nice straight punch.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Herve shuffles to his left behind two crisp jabs. Monroe eats them both and turns towards Herve to reposition himself and eats a stinging right hand-left hook combo.

Monroe wants to work for an arm triangle but Herve is really keeping half guard well and defending the submission attempt.
Herve has hold of Monroe's hands but Monroe slips his arm to the side and lands an elbow.

Herve is rocked!
Monroe lands a big elbow from half guard. That looks like it's hurt Herve quite badly. Herve pulls Monroe in close trying to recover. Monroe postures up and lands two really hard shots that put Herve on queer street! The ref takes a look and decides to call an end to the fight! Possibly an early stoppage but Herve doesn't seem to be complaining too much.

After winning the bout, Ricky Monroe thanked all his fans and promised he'd do even better in his next fight. The crowd seemed to love his humility.
