Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.

The judges for this bout are Michael Johnstone, Daniel Franklin and Bart Greer.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Lazaro connects with a crisp jab.
Lazaro misses with a straight right.
Laranja drives through with a takedown into guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Laranja is just sitting in guard, looking to avoid any submissions.
Laranja thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position.

Laranja seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up.
Lazaro really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Laranja. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Laranja drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Laranja jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.

Laranja drops back looking for a leg! Lazaro is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Lazaro manages to kick Laranja off! Laranja jumps back into Lazaro's guard.

Laranja controls the pace of the fight for a moment.
Laranja drops back looking for a heel hook - he quickly realises he's not going to get it but Lazaro manages to dive on top of him before he can escape and now Laranja has Lazaro in his guard.
Laranja has a closed guard, preventing Lazaro from standing up.
The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Laranja dives in and grabs Lazaro's left leg, looking for a takedown. Lazaro pushes down on Laranja's head and hops out.
Lazaro tries to counter by closing the distance.
Lazaro leaves Laranja with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.
Lazaro has tried to improve his agility in the runup to this fight.
Lazaro fakes low and throws an overhand right that catches Laranja on the side of the head.

Laranja misses with an uppercut.
Lazaro lands with an overhand left.

Paulo Lazaro is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
Lazaro catches Laranja with a nice straight right. He seems pissed - ooooh, it's on now! On like donkey kong!
Laranja shoots in but Lazaro avoids the takedown attempt easily.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Renato Laranja. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Both fighters step back and shake their arms out. Lazaro engages and cracks Laranja with a massive lead left hook - Laranja tumbles to the floor, out cold! What a shot! Lazaro is delighted - all that hard work in training paid off!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:56 of round 1, we have a winner by way of KO (Punch). Paulo Lazaro!
Paulo Lazaro looked relieved post fight as he said the following; 'I'm a champ too, brother!'.
