PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Jack Stick (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Zakari Moss (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Jack Stick had a look across the cage there at his opponent. He definitely means business

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 15 - 7 - 0, fighting out of New York, Jack Stick!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 13 - 8 - 0, fighting out of London, Zakari Moss!
The judges for this bout are Steven Brown, Colin Fotheringham and Paul Tew.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Moss misses with a jab, cross combination.
A swing and a miss from Stick.

Stick throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Moss was covering up waiting for the punch and Stick finishes the takedown easily into guard.
Moss manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Stick manages to get himself to full guard.

Moss slows down the pace of the fight, as he sits in guard.
Stick will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.
Moss advances to half guard.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Stick is in trouble now - Moss has advanced to mount!
Stick tries to reverse the position but Moss maintains control.
Moss throwing shots from mount but they're not landing.

Stick tries to hold on but Moss pushes him away.
Stick slips a leg in and gets back to half guard.

Moss looks to land a strike but Stick avoids it nicely and regains full guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Moss slows down the pace of the fight, as he sits in guard.

Moss thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position.
Moss pushes down on Stick's leg and manages to get into half guard.
Moss wants to pass to mount but Stick is defending the position.

Moss is working for a submission of some sort.
Stick controlling the leg, holding on to half guard.

Moss is sneakily working for an arm triangle but Stick sees it coming and defends easily.

Moss is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.
Moss is keen to just control but Stick is a slippery customer.
Moss tries to pass the half guard into mount. Stick knows what he's doing though and prevents the attempt.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.

Moss is keen to just control but Stick is a slippery customer.

The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity.
Stick throws a low kick, looking for Moss's leg but Moss calmly moves out of range.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Stick throws a body shot but no joy.
Some bone on bone action there as Moss checks a low kick. Luckily it wasn't a particularly hard one.
Moss lands a jab, followed by a cross and another cross, as Stick backs up against the cage.

Zakari Moss dominated that round.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.


Moss throws a right and a left that both miss.
No joy there for Moss, who threw a few shots but didn't land.
Stick feinted there with a counter leg kick.

Stick fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Moss sprawls well initially but Stick persists and gets the takedown into half guard.
Stick lands with an elbow from half guard - that looked like it hurt.

Stick throwing shots but they're hitting the canvas more than the man.
Moss is trying to get back to full guard.

Stick lands a couple of digs.

Moss looking for a guillotine here but Stick defends easily.
Moss has a butterfly guard looking to sweep but Stick has passed into side control.

Moss is in a bad spot here and he knows it... just holding on for now.
Stick really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.

Moss is trying to maintain the position but Stick is very close to passing his half guard.
Stick working some ground and pound from close in. He's looking to maintain this position and strike for a while by the looks of things... although he'll probably advance to full mount in a minute now I've said that.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Moss is looking for a sweep. Stick is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.

Stick slips a nice elbow through Moss's hands, connecting with Moss's forehead.

Moss looking to hit a scissor sweep but Stick is one step ahead there.

Moss escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Stick gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.

Moss is active off his back here, looking for submissions.
Stick stands up over Moss, holding his feet. He dives back in and lands a decent shot to the head.
Stick knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Moss on the ground.
Stick tries to free his leg and advance position but Moss is retaining full guard.
Moss controls Stick momentarily but Stick frees himself.

Moss had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Stick defends it easily.
Moss can't keep his opponent in guard - Stick advances to half guard, no doubt looking to mount.
Stick lands with an elbow from half guard - that looked like it hurt.

Moss has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Stick is working away from the top position though.

Stick shoots in looking for a single leg takedown. Moss is trying to defend but Stick finishes it well and ends up in half guard. Let's see if he can advance position further.
