Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Miika Liukkonen (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Rafael Gomez (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Rafael Gomez told me before the fight that he's been watching a lot of DVDs so let's see if that helps him in this one! I can't wait to find out!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of
7 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Miika Liukkonen!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of
7 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Rafael Gomez!
The judges for this bout are Ben Zyskovitsi, Matti Vanhoillinen and Tarja Halkonen.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Liukkonen tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Gomez was well out of range. Poor timing from Liukkonen.
Liukkonen misses with a head kick.
Gomez is loading up here, looking for a big counter of his own.
Liukkonen on the wrong end of a nice low kick. He's acting like it's no big deal but he doesn't want to take many more of those.
Gomez throws a quick inside leg kick.
Gomez tries to bum rush Liukkonen with a series of wild strikes but Liukkonen uses good footwork to avoid the assault.
Gomez forces Liukkonen back against the cage and clinches.
The fighters are pressed against the cage, as the pace of the fight slows.
Gomez breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
Liukkonen looks for a takedown but Gomez sprawls well.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Good work by Gomez as he checks the leg kick.
Liukkonen tries to score a power double leg takedown but Gomez sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Liukkonen somewhat.
Miika Liukkonen seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Liukkonen throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Gomez.
A nice inside leg kick there by Gomez. That's going to slow Liukkonen down.
Liukkonen fails to land with a series of punches.
Gomez throws out a counter right but Liukkonen avoids it with no problem.
That's one minute gone in the round.
Gomez rushes Liukkonen and pushes him back against the cage in a clinch.
Gomez with the Thai clinch, lands a knee to the head.
Gomez escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Liukkonen throws a left and a right that both miss
and Liukkonen takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles.
Gomez misses with a few strikes there.
Gomez lands with a two punch combination before moving back out of range.
Liukkonen darts in looking for a takedown but Gomez gets double underhooks and turns Liukkonen into the cage.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Miika Liukkonen. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Rafael Gomez decided to go for the less than humble approach in his post fight interview, telling everyone how he is going to conquer the world. The crowd seemed to like it when really that sort of approach could have gone either way.
