The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
We've got one fighter who appears to only be looking to counter and the other not looking particularly aggressive either, so we could be in for a dull fight.
Kiapoity throws a jab when Hughes was well out of range.
And Hughes tries to counter it with a takedown but Kiapoity pushes his down on his head and steps out.
Hughes staying out of range there.
Hughes tries a counter takedown but it's more of a dummy move, and he uses it to push himself away.
Hughes walks into a stiff left hand from Kiapoity.
Nice shot lands for Kiapoity.
Both fighters are looking to counter, which isn't making for the most exciting fight in the world.
Hughes goes for a double leg but Kiapoity avoids the attempt and the two fighters end up clinched against the cage as Kiapoity continues to drive forward.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Kiapoity misses with an uppercut.
And Hughes tries to counter it with a takedown but Kiapoity pushes his down on his head and steps out.
Hughes shoots in for a double leg but Kiapoity sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.
Kiapoity swung with a counter right hand that didn't connect.
Kiapoity looks to have improved his striking defense since last time we saw him fight.

A lazy left from Kiapoity finds it's target.
Hughes steps to the side to avoid the strikes from Kiapoity.
Jomlong Kiapoity seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Kiapoity throws the left hand but Hughes avoids the punch easily.
Hughes with the counter takedown but Kiapoity avoids it easily.
Hughes shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Kiapoity as he jumps to the side.
Jomlong Kiapoity has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Mata Hughes.
Kiapoity bobs and weaves and unloads with a good uppercut.

Kiapoity drops Hughes with a hook right on the temple. He thinks about going to the ground but Hughes looks back up at him and smiles so Kiapoity waves him back to his feet - he obviously thinks he can knock him out after that shot landed.

Hughes is rocked!

A jab from Kiapoity misses.
Kiapoity jabbing away but nothing is landing.
Kiapoity looks to land a right hand but Hughes moved out of range.
Hughes with the counter takedown but Kiapoity avoids it easily.
Kiapoity rushes in with a sloppy looking punch

and Hughes counters with a shoot takedown. Kiapoity fights it but they end up in guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Kiapoity has his foot on Hughes's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Hughes works his way back into a safe position though.

Hughes slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up.

Kiapoity is looking for a triangle but Hughes pushes his legs off easily.

Hughes is sitting in close to Kiapoity's body. Kiapoity has gone for a guillotine from the bottom. Oh damn, that looks pretty tight! Hughes is panicking - it looks like this one could be all over! Yes, Hughes is tapping! That was a very nice submission by Kiapoity.
