Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Takem Downem (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Sid Morrison (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Morrison is bobbing his head along to his entrance song: The Clocks. Man, I cannot wait for this one!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 11 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Takem Downem!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 15 - 11 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Sid Morrison!
The judges for this bout are Kenichi Hosakawa, Hirohito Nitta and Shigeki Fujiwara.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Morrison shoots in looking for a takedown but Downem manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Morrison's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away.
Downem swings wildly with a right hand that was never going to find it's target.
Nice takedown defense from Morrison. No joy for Downem on that attempt.
Downem finds nothing but air with that leg kick attempt.
Downem missing with a left hand there. Morrison was out of range so wasted energy throwing that one.
The fight stays on the outside here - Morrison looks like he's thinking about clinching though.
Downem feinted there with a counter leg kick.
Downem tries to score a power double leg takedown but Morrison sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Downem somewhat.

Morrison shoots in for a takedown from distance. He catches Downem napping and manages to drive through into side control!
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Downem is trying to control Morrison's posture but Morrison avoids it.
The fighters are trapped in the ropes so we're going to have a reposition here. The ref calls for a break and repositions the fighters in the center of the ring.
Morrison throwing ground and pound but whilst doing so, he forgets to control position and Downem works his way back to half guard. Good composure under pressure.
The fighters are battling for position here. Downem manages to regain full guard. Nice work.

Morrison tries to free his leg and advance position but Downem is retaining full guard.
Hammerfist, elbow! yells Morrison's corner. There ya go! There ya go!
Morrison wants to control from the top but Downem keeps moving.
Morrison throws a strike but Downem rolls with it and manages to sweep. Now he's in guard on top.

Morrison is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
Morrison is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Downem is controlling him.
Our spies down at at Lock and Roll Grappling Gym inform us that Morrison has really been working on his submissions in the buildup to this fight. Will it pay off?

Downem avoids a guillotine attempt easily.
Morrison is trying to hold Downem in close to prevent damage but Downem has managed to pass into half guard.
Morrison flails away from the bottom but he's not doing any damage.

Downem drops an elbow to the side of Morrison's head.
Downem perhaps working for something from half guard, or maybe not. It looks like he's just sitting there.
Morrison wants to get back to full guard.

Morrison scrambles, trying to get to his feet, but Downem manages to mount him!

Downem controlling the position easily from mount.
Morrison sneaks a leg under to get to half guard.
Morrison wants to control but Downem is keeping busy.
Morrison wants to improve his position but Downem is controlling well.

Morrison looking for submissions from an awkward position here.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.

Morrison looking to force a kimura from the bottom here. He's concentrating on that move too much though and Downem pushes past his half guard into mount!
Downem is in the full mount, landing strikes.

Downem shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Morrison but Morrison pushes him off and we're back to square one.

Morrison tries to close the distance and clinch but Downem swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.

As Morrison looks to move away, Downem throws a big counter combo bu Morrison just gets out of the way.

Morrison lands a nice uppercut.
Downem tries to pull guard but Morrison forces him back to his feet, against the ropes.
Morrison has a body lock and is looking for a takedown. Downem is bouncing around trying to prevent the takedown and somehow he has indeed managed to stay on his feet.
Takem Downem has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Sid Morrison.

Morrison's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.
Morrison tries to close the distance and clinch but Downem swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.

Horrible takedown attempt by Downem or perhaps it was just good defense by Morrison, which made it look bad.
Downem throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.
Sid Morrison seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Morrison misses with a series of wild punches.

Downem shoots in with a lovely double leg takedown. Morrison manages to land in full guard to minimise the damage.
Morrison can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Downem controls the pace.

Morrison is looking for a triangle here but Downem uses the submission attempt to pass into side control.
Downem misses with a strike but at least he's keeping busy, looking to cause some damage - that will still help him when it comes to the judges scorecards.

Morrison tries to strike from the bottom but misses.

Downem has had enough of the ground for now and decides to stand.
Downem keeps the fight on the outside.
Morrison tries to clinch up against the ropes, rushing in to close the distance. Downem manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.

Morrison moves into the clinch successfully.

Morrison breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.

Downem closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Downem lands in his opponent's guard.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Morrison wants to control but instead he gets his guard passed and Downem is now in half guard.
Downem drops an elbow to the side of Morrison's head.
The referee calls for the fighters to work.

Morrison wants to improve his position but Downem is controlling well.
Morrison slips a foot under and gets full guard. Nice work.

Downem gets to his feet - Morrison follows without any prompting.
Morrison defends well against a solid takedown attempt from Downem.

Takem Downem is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.

Morrison tries to get back to his feet but has found himself mounted instead. Damn, that's gotta suck.
Morrison is breathing heavily.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Downem is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Morrison can do to turn this around?

OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action. This is the final round!



Morrison gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard.

Morrison is working an open guard so Downem takes the opportunity to get back to his feet.
Well, he's not going to score with shots like that. A lazy body kick attempt from Downem.
Morrison looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Downem is fending him off so far but Morrison persists. Nope, Downem circles away and we're back to standing.
Downem feinted with a counter takedown.
Morrison tries to clinch up.
It looked like Downem was trying to counter with a body shot coming off that last attack from Morrison.
Downem throws a head kick but Morrison moves out of range.

Nice takedown defense from Downem. No joy for Morrison on that attempt.
Morrison shuffles to his left behind two crisp jabs. Downem eats them both and turns towards Morrison to reposition himself and eats a stinging right hand-left hook combo.
Morrison rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Downem moves out of range and avoids them all easily.
Morrison changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Downem tries to avoid it but Morrison manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Downem to the ground. Downem escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
Downem was looking to counter that move with a punch but didn't quite pull the trigger.
Takem Downem has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Sid Morrison.
Morrison closes this distance looking for a takedown but Downem circles away.
Takem Downem is winning the standup battle so far.
Morrison takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.

Morrison tries to wriggle free to get back to his feet but he's given up his back! Oops.

Downem is trying to stick to Morrison's back but Morrison is turning into Downem. He's managed to reverse the position - now he's in Downem's guard. Polite applause from the crowd in appreciation of some nice Jiu Jitsu by Morrison.

Downem has control of Morrison's left arm, preventing Morrison from doing any damage.
Morrison stops Downem from standing up.
Morrison wants to control from the top but Downem keeps moving.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.

Downem scrambles and gets back to his feet.
Morrison tries to clinch up.
Downem fails to land with a series of punches.
Morrison keeping a good distance there, avoiding the body shot.
Morrison is loading up here, looking for a big counter of his own.
Morrison tries to close the distance and clinch up against the ropes but Downem paws at him with a jab and circles away.
Morrison misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out.

And that's the end of the fight!
That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Takem Downem.
Well I reckon that's a shut out for Downem, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
