Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Alva Gallegos (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Drew Reus (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Alva Gallegos has the edge in experience - let's see if he can make that count tonight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Alva Gallegos!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Drew Reus!
The judges for this bout are Gregory Folan, Yves DeLean and Steve Smith.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Reus darts in and lands a nice takedown into half guard.

Gallegos looking for submissions off his back.
Gallegos wants to get back to his feet.
Gallegos trying to hold on to Reus's head to control him but Reus postures up.
Reus keeping composed on the top, looking to control the action.
Reus lands with a punch from half guard.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Reus perhaps working for something from half guard, or maybe not. It looks like he's just sitting there.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Reus is looking to advance position but Gallegos won't allow it.

Reus is trying to work for a kimura but Gallegos is defending well.

Reus is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Gallegos is just riding it out for now. Reus eventually gives up the hold.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Well, if Reus is going to just lie there, perhaps we should talk about what we're having for dinner tonight… I'm having a ham and pineapple pizza… Yum. Can't wait.
Reus lands a big shot. The thud that echoes around the arena is like music to the fans' ears.
Neither fighter is being very active at the moment, with Reus in particular looking to stall.
Let's hope that Reus has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
It looks like Reus might be adopting somewhat of a lay and pray gameplan here, which I'm sure won't go down too well with the paying fans in attendance... Or the ring announcers come to think of it.
Gallegos wants to control but Reus is keeping busy and won't allow it.
Reus moves nicely into side control.
Reus moving around in side mount but really he's just happy to control for now.
The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
Reus tries to stand but Gallegos is controlling his head.
Gallegos is trying to escape the position but Reus is controlling the position.
Reus wants to stand but Gallegos is controlling his arm.
Reus working away.
Reus is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.

That's three minutes gone in the round.

Reus is trying to get an arm triangle but Gallegos is defending well.
Gallegos can't do much from the bottom here.
Reus lands a knee to the body and a forearm to the face.

Reus tries for a kimura but Gallegos is defending well.
Reus is pausing for a moment. What's he doing? It looks like he's clearing his nose. Oh dude! He's shot a load of snot all down Gallegos's shoulder. That is not cool.
Gallegos is trying to buck Reus off.
Gallegos takes a couple of big shots there - the referee warns him that he has to defend himself better.
Reus tries to get to his feet but he's trapped momentarily.
Reus working the head with strikes.


Gallegos is rocked!

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Reus connects with a decent looking elbow from side control that caused Gallegos some visible discomfort.
Oh Gallegos is still in real trouble! Will he be able to recover?!!
Gallegos being controlled for a moment.

Reus has hold of Gallegos's arm. He's looking for a kimura. Gallegos seems comfortable defending it but Reus has shifted his position slighty and is cranking on the arm! Gallegos is real pain and he's forced to tap out! Gallegos is disgusted with himself for not defending it better but Reus couldn't care less - he's delighted!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:13 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Kimura). Drew Reus!
