Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Rashad Patrick!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Cesa Lapanie!
The judges for this bout are Paulsen Ambrosius, Daniel Blasius and Aafke Stam.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Lapanie misses with a hook

and Patrick counters with a driving takedown into guard. Nice work there by Patrick.

Lapanie kicks Patrick off and gets to his feet.
Patrick lets the fists fly and connects with a left straight followed by a right hook.

Patrick gets caught on his heels momentarily as he allows Lapanie to score an easy takedown into full guard.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Lapanie is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.

Lapanie gets to his feet and steps away from his opponent.
Lapanie will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.
Patrick seem to be loading up, looking for a big counter.
Lapanie scores with a head kick.
Cesa Lapanie seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Lapanie thows a body kick. Patrick tries to catch it but that hurt him.
Lapanie misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out.
As Lapanie looks to move away, Patrick throws a big counter combo bu Lapanie just gets out of the way.
That kick from Patrick tenderised Lapanie's leg. Lapanie is trying to keep his angry face on.
Lapanie lands with a slapping head kick.
Patrick misses with a double jab
and Lapanie counters nicely by changing levels and landing a hook to the body.

Lapanie is trying hard to land a takedown here. Patrick sprawls well and keeps this one on the feet.
Rashad Patrick has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Cesa Lapanie.

Horrible takedown attempt by Lapanie or perhaps it was just good defense by Patrick, which made it look bad.
Patrick tries to clinch but Lapanie is having none of it.

Patrick feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.
Lapanie is wriggling around but Patrick manages to pass to half guard.

Patrick closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Lapanie to the mat! Lapanie manages to get full guard.

Lapanie pushes Patrick off and gets back to his feet.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Lapanie avoids the head kick by Patrick.
Patrick is breathing heavily.

Lapanie moves into the clinch successfully.
Patrick is trying to break the clinch but Lapanie has him pressed against the cage.
Lapanie is working on a leg, looking for a takedown but Patrick is defending well.
Patrick wants to push off and get back to the center of the mat but Lapanie has him pressed against the cage.
Lapanie controlling the action here for a moment.
Lapanie tries to take the fight to the ground by pulling guard but can't manage it.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Cesa Lapanie dominated that round.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.

Lapanie tries a counter takedown but it's more of a dummy move, and he uses it to push himself away.
Lapanie fails in his attempt to clinch.
Patrick appears to be looking for a counter takedown.
Oooooooooooh, not good. A low kick from Patrick lands where it shouldn't have, right in the... well, you know what he did? He kicked him in the penis. He's injured, injured bad. The referee sends both fighters to their corners and Lapanie has 5 minutes to recover. He's OK now though... a thumbs up from Lapanie and we're back underway with a touch of gloves.

It looked like Patrick wanted to counter with a hook but didn't fully commit.

Lapanie shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Patrick sprawls well. Patrick wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Lapanie gets slowly back to his feet.

Cesa Lapanie showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.

The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action! And we move into the final round!



Patrick shoots in with a lovely double leg takedown. Lapanie manages to land in full guard to minimise the damage.

Lapanie manages to escape and get back to his feet.
Lapanie has been the more effective fighter overall so far.
Patrick throws a sloppy head kick and Lapanie moves out of range easily.
Lapanie keeping his hands up high there, blocking the jab from Patrick.

Lapanie tries to jump guard but he falls flat on his backside. Patrick smiles and moves away.
Lapanie shoots in but doesn't get the takedown
and Patrick counters with a leg kick that reverborates around the arena.

Patrick closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Lapanie to the mat! Lapanie manages to get full guard.

Lapanie has managed to wall walk up one of the corner posts to get back to his feet. Patrick is pushing him up against the cage, looking to control the position.

Lapanie breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
Lapanie shoots in but Patrick avoids the takedown attempt easily.
Rashad Patrick has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Cesa Lapanie.
Lapanie connects with a slap. Keep your fist closed son.

Patrick pulls out of a head kick attempt.
Lapanie wants to counter the offense by Patrick and move into the clinch position.
Lapanie tries to clinch there but Patrick circles away.

Lapanie bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.

Patrick sneaks out the side door and pushes Lapanie away - he's back to his feet. The crowd show their appreciation for the escape.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Patrick closes the distance and clinches up with Lapanie, looking for a takedown. Patrick pushes Lapanie against the cage but Lapanie circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.
A telegraphed takedown attempt from Lapanie is defended easily by Patrick.
Lapanie blocks a head kick by Patrick.

Lapanie has Patrick up against the cage in a clinch.
Lapanie lands an elbow inside that Patrick shrugs off.
Lapanie misses with a punch to the body.

Lapanie breaks the clinch.
Lapanie checks a leg kick.
Lapanie lets it all go there with a big combo counter but none of the punches connected.

Patrick throws a combination. Lapanie tries to block but a couple of punches get through.
A telegraphed takedown attempt from Lapanie is defended easily by Patrick.

Lapanie moves into the clinch successfully.
Patrick wants to strike at distance but he can't break free of the clinch.

Nice takedown defense from Patrick. No joy for Lapanie on that attempt.
Rashad Patrick has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
Cesa Lapanie is fighting for a decision - hopefully he's judged it right and he's actually winning the fight.

I would just about give that final round to Cesa Lapanie.
I've got Lapanie winning every round here. Surely the decision will go his way and he'll pick up a well deserved decision victory. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
