Ramos is bouncing up and down as he enters the arena, backed by Jaime Barrera - Mi bandera. Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Lucifer Palhares!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Edwin Ramos!
The judges for this bout are Ben Zyskovitsi, Johanna Lukiainen and Matti Vanhoillinen.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Ramos shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Palhares but Palhares pushes him off and we're back to square one.
Palhares throws a jab when Ramos was well out of range.

Ramos instigates a clinch.
Palhares digs a right hand into Ramos's ribs. Those have got to be taking their toll on Ramos's gas tank.
Palhares pushes Ramos back against the cage and lands a hook to the side of the head.
Palhares lands a shot to the body.
Ramos blocks an uppercut.
Palhares lands with a short shot to the head.
An uppercut on the inside fails to land for Palhares.
Ramos is trying to work for a single leg takedown but Palhares pulls him back up using the underhooks.
Palhares doesn't land with the attempted body shot.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Palhares tries to work over Ramos's body with a swooping hook but it only glances the target.

Palhares breaks from the clinch.
Palhares with a jab.
Palhares scores with a nice head shot.
Palhares misses with a looping right.
We've been hearing reports that Palhares has been drilling takedowns in recent sessions so let's see if that has an impact on the result of this fight.

Ramos shoots in for a takedown but Palhares shows good takedown defense.
Lucifer Palhares has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Edwin Ramos.

Palhares fakes and then throws a beautiful body shot. Ramos looks a bit winded and takes a step backwards to take a breath.

Palhares throws a hard body shot but it just misses.

Ramos takes a body punch that cleary hurt but he's trying not to show any weakness.
A decent looking cross lands there for Palhares.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Ramos changes levels for a counter takedown but doesn't follow through with his attempt.
Lucifer Palhares seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Ramos fails miserably with a takedown attempt.
Palhares dips down and scores with a jab to the body.
Palhares misses with a body shot. Nice footwork from Ramos.
Ramos tries to land a body kick
and Palhares makes him pay by landing a nice hook to the body before moving out of range.
Ramos shoots in but Palhares avoids the takedown attempt easily.
Palhares fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Ramos manages to avoid it.
Ramos is looking to take this fight into the clinch.
Ramos takes a solid shot to the body. That one hurt him but he's trying not to show it.

Ramos throws an ugly left hook that misses
letting Palhares counter with a right hand.
Ramos takes one to the chin there.
Palhares takes a swing at Ramos's ribcage but misses.
Ramos looks to throw the jab but Palhares is out of range.
Palhares is looking to wear down Ramos with body shots, infact he's throwing more body shots than head shots at the moment.
Ramos moves out of range as Palhares strikes.
Palhares throws a series of punches but Ramos avoids them all with ease.
Palhares misses with a wild combination.
Ramos looked like he wanted to counter with a punch but didn't throw it.
Palhares just misses with a punch to the body.
Palhares throws a body shot but no joy.
Palhares sets himself, and Ramos steps forward looking for the clinch! Palhares avoids it this time.
Ramos tries for a takedown but Palhares sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily.
Palhares sizes up Ramos with a pawing jab and scores with a straight right down the middle.
A shot to the liver by Palhares. Beautiful body shot.
Ramos shoots in but doesn't get the takedown
and Palhares cracks him with a counter punch right on the button.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Ramos misses with a body shot. Nice footwork from Palhares.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Ramos takes one on the button.


Ramos is rocked!
Ramos uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Palhares.
Ramos is still on wobbly legs! Can Palhares finish him?
Ramos throws a sloppy head kick and Palhares moves out of range easily.
Ramos seems to have recovered his senses.
Palhares misses the shot to the body.

Palhares cracks Ramos with a big right hand and Ramos goes down!
Ramos trying to strike from the bottom but really, it's not the best position to be doing that from!

Ramos working away from the bottom but not quite defensive enough there because Palhares has passed into half guard!
Ramos really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Palhares. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Ramos has hold of Palhares's hands but Palhares slips his arm to the side and lands an elbow.
Palhares controlling the position here and throwing strikes from the top. Nice elbow lands there... and another... and another... oh, Ramos is out! Palhares gets to his feet and admires his work - nice finish!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:57 of round 1, we have a winner by way of KO (Strikes). Lucifer Palhares!
An out of breath Lucifer Palhares thanked his loyal fans in his post fight interview, giving them credit for his success over the course of his career.
