PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Oscar Jorgensen (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Joe Wills (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Wills has chosen Enter Sandman as his entrance music. Joe Wills will no doubt be looking to use his reach advantage to good effect.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Oscar Jorgensen!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 7 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Joe Wills!
The judges for this bout are Topper Green, John Mangel and Winston Howard.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Jorgensen tries a head kick but it misses.
Jorgensen could do with losing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely.
Wills shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Jorgensen defends it nicely.
No luck for Wills with that takedown attempt.
Jorgensen is looking for a counter combo.
A jab lands there for Jorgensen.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Wills goes for a double leg but Jorgensen avoids the attempt and the two fighters end up clinched against the cage as Jorgensen continues to drive forward.
Oscar Jorgensen has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Joe Wills.

Wills instigates a clinch.

Wills is working on a single leg takedown against the cage. Jorgensen can't fight it off and eventually Wills manages to take the fight to the floor. Jorgensen looks annoyed but at least he's managed to land in guard.
Jorgensen controls Wills momentarily but Wills frees himself.

Wills controls from within his opponent's guard.

Wills got a little sloppy there for a moment and Jorgensen has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Wills has managed to get both his arms back between Jorgensen's legs - danger averted.
Wills controls the pace of the fight for a moment.
Wills connects with a couple of short punches.
Wills must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.
Jorgensen can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Wills controls the pace.

Wills decides to stand up and beckons his opponent to follow.
Wills throws a leg kick that is checked
and Jorgensen counters with a straight right hand.
Wills has his front leg slapped to the side - a nice low kick landing there from Jorgensen.

Jorgensen tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.
Wills looks to land a combination but Jorgensen avoids it well.
Wills misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out.
Wills takes one to the side of the head.
Wills shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Jorgensen but Jorgensen pushes him off and we're back to square one.
Wills throws an uppercut from half a mile away. Jorgensen sees it coming and avoids it easily.
Wills is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.

Jorgensen shoots in for a takedown from distance. He catches Wills napping and manages to drive through into side control!

Wills throws Jorgensen to one side and escapes!

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Horrible takedown attempt by Wills or perhaps it was just good defense by Jorgensen, which made it look bad.
Jorgensen misses with an uppercut
and Wills counters with a left and a right that stings Jorgensen.
Jorgensen throws a head kick but Wills moves out of range.

Wills moves into the clinch.

Wills breaks from the clinch.

Wills gets in close and instigates a clinch.
Wills is working for takedown but Jorgensen is calmly controlling the position for now.
Wills tries to land a knee to the body but he is off balance and Jorgensen avoids it.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Wills throws a hook to the body. More of an arm punch but it's all scoring with the judges.
Wills jumps guard but Jorgensen stands there with Wills around his waist. Wills gives up and drops back to his feet. We remain in the clinch.

Jorgensen breaks from the clinch.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Wills throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Jorgensen's waist but Jorgensen gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Wills off to one side.
Wills lands a leg kick that knocks Jorgensen off balance momentarily.
Jorgensen blocks a head kick by Wills.
Jorgensen connects with a leg kick. Wills looked like he was expecting something else and didn't defend it.
Jorgensen misses with a jab, cross combination.

Wills gets to the clinch - let's see what his plan is here.

Jorgensen escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Wills dives in and grabs Jorgensen's left leg, looking for a takedown. Jorgensen pushes down on Wills's head and hops out.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

A close round but Joe Wills will probably get the nod.
Well, the break between rounds is over. Let's get back to the scrappin!

Jorgensen escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Jorgensen misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
Wills dives in for a single leg takedown but Jorgensen sprawls and the fighters end up clinched against the cage.

and Jorgensen counters with a series of strikes. Wills will be more careful next time no doubt.
Wills shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Jorgensen defends it nicely.
Jorgensen half commits to a counter takedown before pushing away, out of range.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
Wills misses with a shot to the kidneys.

Jorgensen manages to break the clinch.
Wills misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.
A telegraphed takedown attempt from Wills is defended easily by Jorgensen.
Jorgensen looking to take his opponent's legs away with the low kicks.
Jorgensen plants his feet and lands a nice head kick!
Wills is trying hard to land a takedown here. Jorgensen sprawls well and keeps this one on the feet.

Wills with poor footwork there. He got himself in a bit of a tangle, enabling Jorgensen to score with a decent uppercut.

Wills closes the distance and pushes Jorgensen back into the cage.

Jorgensen looks to be working for a triangle here. Oh, it looks like he might have it! Wills has picked Jorgensen up and slammed him! Jorgensen can't keep hold of the triangle and Wills manages to pass to side control!

Jorgensen is looking to regain half guard here but Wills keeps moving and retains side control.
Jorgensen tries to escape but Wills is in control.

Jorgensen is pushing Wills's head away, looking to escape. Wills manages to hold on to the position though.
Jorgensen tries to buck Wills off but Wills is having none of it.
Jorgensen is letting Wills control him for a moment.
Jorgensen is looking to regain half guard here but Wills keeps moving and retains side control.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Wills remains in side control and seems content to stay there. It's a versatile position from which he can work both strikes and submissions, whilst maintaining that control, so maybe he'll sit here for a while.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Wills prevents Jorgensen from escaping the position.
You can see the frustration on Jorgensen's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.

Jorgensen tries to improve position but can't.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close second round but I would say that Oscar Jorgensen will probably get the nod.

Wills throws a half hearted mid kick.

Wills gets in close and instigates a clinch.

Wills ties up his opponent against the cage and manages to drag the fight down to the ground. Wills no doubt will be looking to work submissions from his guard.
Wills is pulling down on Jorgensen's head to control his posture.

Jorgensen has gone for a leg lock! Wills slips out almost immediately though and dives into Jorgensen's guard.

Wills postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.
Jorgensen might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.

Wills fails to land a wild elbow strike.
Jorgensen is trying to stand back up. He's worked his way up against the cage but Wills has just dragged him back down to the mat.

Wills stands up.
Oscar Jorgensen is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Jorgensen tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.
Wills wants to counter the offense by Jorgensen and move into the clinch position.
Wills tries for a takedown but Jorgensen sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily.
Jorgensen missing with a left hand there. Wills was out of range so wasted energy throwing that one.

Wills gets caught flat footed, as Jorgensen shoots in with a quick takedown into guard.

Wills has scooted to the edge of the canvas and used the cage to get back to his feet. Jorgensen has stuck on his opponent and is forcing him back against the cage.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Jorgensen stops a takedown attempt from Wills.
A nice glancing elbow lands by Wills.

Wills jumps guard.

Wills has his feet on Jorgensen's hips. He pushes off and gets to his feet. Nice work.
A head kick misses from Jorgensen.

Jorgensen shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. Jorgensen showed some decent athleticism there.

Wills pushes Jorgensen off and gets back to his feet.

Wills has Jorgensen up against the cage in a clinch.
Wills controlling the action here for a moment.

Wills continues to stall. The referee tells him to work or he's going to break them up.

Wills pulls guard.

Wills manages to wriggle out and sneak his way back up to his feet, so the fighters are now clinched up against the cage.

Wills drops down for a takedown but doesn't get it.

Wills tries to pull guard but Jorgensen holds him up against the cage and eventually Wills drops back down to his feet.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!

Wills had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Jorgensen defends it easily.

Joe Wills comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
I think Wills has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.

Joe Wills opened up his post fight interview with a scream to camera that he wants a title shot! Whether he deserves the shot will be up to the management of the organization, so I guess he'll have to wait and see.
Oscar Jorgensen spoke after the fight, saying 'kiss my ass i won that fight'.
