Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Mario Acosta (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jantte Pekkane (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). The crowd giving both fighters a great reception on their way into the arena. That's good to see.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Mario Acosta!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Jantte Pekkane!
The judges for this bout are Arvi Lind, Johanna Lukiainen and Marco Blurström.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Pekkane thumps Acosta with a low kick.

Acosta gets caught napping as Pekkane dives in and scores a takedown. Acosta manages to retain guard.
Pekkane is stalling in the full guard.
Pekkane throws a big right hand that misses.
Pekkane looking to pass the guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Pekkane got a little sloppy there for a moment and Acosta has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Pekkane has managed to get both his arms back between Acosta's legs - danger averted.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Pekkane trying to control but Acosta is working from the bottom.

Pekkane trying to control the position from guard on top but Acosta is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
We may be looking at a referee standup if the pace doesn't pick up soon.
Acosta can't keep his opponent in guard - Pekkane advances to half guard, no doubt looking to mount.
Pekkane throwing punches and elbows but they're not doing any damage.
Pekkane working over Acosta with some ground and pound. Acosta looks like he wants out of this position, which is understandable.
Acosta could do with losing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely.
Pekkane thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Acosta's head.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.

Pekkane is working for a submission of some sort.
Pekkane wants to stand but Acosta has hold of a leg and an arm, so he's trapped for now.
Well, if Pekkane is going to just lie there, perhaps we should talk about what we're having for dinner tonight… I'm having a ham and pineapple pizza… Yum. Can't wait.
Pekkane frees up his trapped foot and advances to mount.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Pekkane takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.
Acosta really is built like a bowling ball. I wonder if he'd roll if you pushed him down a hill...
Pekkane looking to control but Acosta is working nicely, looking to advance position himself.
Pekkane controlling from mount.
Acosta is in a horrible position here. Pekkane smacks him with another shot as he tries to escape the position.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Acosta is wriggling around trying to escape.
Pekkane pausing momentarily but resumes with a couple of decent strikes that do a bit of damage.
Acosta might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.
Pekkane content just to control the position here.
Pekkane can't control as he wanted to and Acosta manages to get the fight back to his half guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!

Pekkane stands up from half guard.

Pekkane looking to score a takedown here. Acosta is defending well but Pekkane drives through and ends up in Acosta's guard.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Jantte Pekkane dominated that round.
That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business.



Pekkane bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.

Pekkane has had enough of the ground for now and decides to stand.

Acosta is trying to control the position but Pekkane postures up.
Pekkane tries to free his leg and advance position but Acosta is retaining full guard.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.

Pekkane passes Acosta's left leg - he's now in half guard.
Pekkane lands with a punch from half guard.

Pekkane tries to stand but his arm is trapped.
Pekkane works his foot free and advances to mount.
Pekkane looking to control but Acosta is working nicely, looking to advance position himself.
Pekkane controlling his opponent.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.

Pekkane stands up from mount. Strange move.
Pekkane bobs and weaves and unloads with a good uppercut.

Acosta moves into range and clinches up with Pekkane.
Acosta is working for takedown but Pekkane is calmly controlling the position for now.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Pekkane is pressed up against the cage. Acosta has hold of a leg and is looking to drag Pekkane down to the mat. Pekkane avoids the attempt though and has circled away. We're back to striking at a distance.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Pekkane scoring well with a low kick there.

Pekkane closes the distance and scores a nice trip takedown into half guard. Acosta did well to prevent Pekkane getting side control.

Acosta has one foot on Pekkane's thigh - he pushes off and manages to get back to his feet.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Jantte Pekkane showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
That's time! Acosta's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight. So, we enter the final round. Let's see if either fighter can bring us a finish, or whether we're going to the judges scorecards.

Pekkane closes the distance and scores a nice trip takedown into half guard. Acosta did well to prevent Pekkane getting side control.
Pekkane is working hard to pass the guard. He's done it - he's now in full mount! Trouble for Acosta!

Acosta is rocked!
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.

Oh Acosta is still in real trouble! Will he be able to recover?!!

Pekkane jumps to the side looking to secure the arm triangle…. Ooooh, that looks tight… Acosta is gargling but he's managed to escape! Nice work there by Acosta and Pekkane has given up the dominant position trying to land that submission.
Pekkane lands a knee to the body and a forearm to the face.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.
Pekkane cracks Acosta with a big elbow. Oh, he's hurt! Pekkane immediately mounts and start dropping bombs! Acosta is done! The referee jumps in and saves him from any more punishment - a quick and decisive finish by Pekkane!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:58 of round 3, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Jantte Pekkane!
