Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Nikon Popov (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Cash Money (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Cash Money will no doubt be trying to keep this one on the feet, where he has a distinct advantage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Nikon Popov!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Cash Money!
The judges for this bout are Matti Vanhoillinen, Tarja Halkonen and Marco Blurström.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

and Popov counters with a single leg into guard. Money didn't expect that.
Money really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Popov. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Popov sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed Money's guard.
Popov works his foot free and advances to mount.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Popov working to secure an arm triangle but it's not happening for him just yet.
Popov takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.

Popov has his hand under the chin of his opponent looking for the choke. He's nearly got it! This one could be all over! But no, Money has freed his hand and lives to survive another… well, another couple of seconds at least!

We've been informed that Money has been working hard on his conditioning in the buildup to the fight.

Popov closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard.

Money tries to break the clinch but Popov is controlling the position.

Popov keeps control of Money as he tries to wriggle out of the double underhooks.
A frustrated look appears on Money's face as he tries to break the clinch.

Popov gets double underhooks and manages to take the fight to the ground.
Popov passes Money's right leg, so he's now in half guard.
Nikon Popov overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.

Popov decides to stand and escape the position.
Popov misses with a body shot.
Wow, both these guys are really going for it!

The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Well, if Popov is going to just lie there, perhaps we should talk about what we're having for dinner tonight… I'm having a ham and pineapple pizza… Yum. Can't wait.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Popov has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent.
Popov's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.

The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet.

Money wants to get back to his feet but Popov passes into half guard.

The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action. This is the final round!

We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup.

Well I reckon that's a shut out for Popov, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
