Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Mikko Haapalainen (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Andrew West (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Haapalainen comes to the cage accompanied by Lentävä Kalakukko. West has chosen J.Cole - No Role Modelz as his entrance music. Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Mikko Haapalainen!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 5 - 2 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Andrew West!
The judges for this bout are Santiago Holmes, Dirk Anderson and Peter Branson.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Haapalainen takes a shot to the body in his stride.
West lands a jab-cross combination.
West comes forward and lands a shot to the body, then darts back out of range.
West misses with an uppercut.
Haapalainen is looking to counter the offense by West and move into the clinch.
West swings wildly with a right hand that was never going to find it's target.
West looks to land a left hand but Haapalainen moved out of range nicely.
The fight stays on the outside here - Haapalainen looks like he's thinking about clinching though.
West tests Haapalainen's chin there with a solid looking shot.
West dives in for a single leg takedown but Haapalainen sprawls and the fighters end up clinched against the cage.
West throws a sloppy head kick and Haapalainen moves out of range easily.
We've been told by Haapalainen's head coaches at All Time Wrestling - 12 ELITE COACHES that he's been working on his takedown defense in preparation for this fight.
West avoids the head kick by Haapalainen.
West swings away with a counter right hand but no contact made.
West cracks Haapalainen with an open hand slap.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Haapalainen tries to clinch up but West circles away and keeps his distance.
Haapalainen is looking to take this fight into the clinch.

Haapalainen needs to keep his hands up - West had a free shot at his head there.
West looks to land a left hand but Haapalainen moved out of range nicely.
West misses with a two punch combination.
West cracks Haapalainen with a good shot that sees him stumbling back into the cage.
West misses with a hook.

West fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Haapalainen sprawls well initially but West persists and gets the takedown into half guard.
West not throwing his punches with enough precision this time.
Haapalainen is trying to control but can't.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Haapalainen is looking for a sweep. West is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.
Haapalainen has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. West is working away from the top position though.
Haapalainen is not content to let West control the position.

West missing with some ground and pound from the half guard.
Haapalainen wants to improve his position but West is controlling well.
West throwing shots but they're hitting the canvas more than the man.
Haapalainen pushes West off looking to stand but West dives back in and keeps control.
West is thwarting Haapalainen's attempts to control the position.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.

West thows a huge punch but Haapalainen dodges it nicely.
West working over Haapalainen with some ground and pound. Haapalainen looks like he wants out of this position, which is understandable.
West working some ground and pound from close in. He's looking to maintain this position and strike for a while by the looks of things... although he'll probably advance to full mount in a minute now I've said that.

West is looking for a kimura but Haapalainen is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for West to get the leverage.

Haapalainen won't allow West to pass to mount.
Ground and pound from West.
West slips a nice elbow through Haapalainen's hands, connecting with Haapalainen's forehead.
West is trying to control the action in half guard but Haapalainen is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard.

West seems to be looking for submissions.
Haapalainen has hold of West's hands but West slips his arm to the side and lands an elbow.

Haapalainen is defending against the submission attempts here by West.
West not throwing his punches with enough precision this time.

West is working for a kimura but Haapalainen is defending it quite comfortably.
West sitting in half guard, looking to land shots. Haapalainen defending well though.
West looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Haapalainen with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position.
West not landing any meaningful shots this time.
West is looking to pass the guard... He's managed it - he's now in full mount!
West tries to control but Haapalainen wriggling away.
Haapalainen is desperately trying to get back to half guard.
West lands with some vicious ground and pound - can Haapalainen hang on?

Andrew West dominated that round.
OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.


West throws a couple of head shots and lands with the final one - a decent hook, which struck Haapalainen on the side of the head.

and West counters with a series of strikes. Haapalainen will be more careful next time no doubt.
West lands a jab followed by a nice looking cross.
West might want to mix his strikes up a bit more. He's just going for head shots at the moment and that can become a bit predictable.
Nice sprawl there from West as Haapalainen shoots in.
West is moving around nicely and scores here with a single head shot.
West will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.
Haapalainen takes a really solid shot there but just smiles back and shrugs his shoulders.
West misses with a looping left.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
A head kick misses from West.
Haapalainen tries to counter by moving into the clinch but West manages to circle out of the way.
Andrew West seems to be getting the better of the standup.

Haapalainen has West up against the cage in a clinch.

West escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.

Haapalainen doesn't manage to clinch there - West circles away.
West shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Haapalainen as he avoids it easily.

and West counters with a nice double leg into half guard.

Haapalainen pushes West off and gets back to his feet.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Mikko Haapalainen. That's going to take a lot out of him.
West lands with a hook. Haapalainen tried to avoid it but it clipped the top of his head.
Haapalainen closes the distance and clinches up with West, looking for a takedown. Haapalainen pushes West against the cage but West circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
West scores with a straight right hand, right through his opponent's guard.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
West lands a leg kick. The shin dug right into the meat of the thigh.
West lands a jab to the head.
Haapalainen tries to clinch up but West circles away and keeps his distance.
West lands a glancing blow to the side of Haapalainen's head.

West is the aggressor but that punch slipped nicely by Haapalainen.
Haapalainen looks shocked there as he takes a right hand to the temple.


Haapalainen is rocked!
West wings a very wild body shot but it does the job and lands to the midsection.
West scores with a jab.
Oh Haapalainen is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!!

West fakes a strike and closes the distance, dragging Haapalainen to the ground. West is now in Haapalainen's guard.
West postures up from his opponent's guard, before exploding into some vicious ground and pound! Haapalainen covers up, he's hurt! West keeps throwing the strikes, glancing at the referee... Will he stop it?? One more big shot from West and the ref steps in to end the fight! West can't hide his delight as he celebrates with his corner.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:39 of round 2, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Andrew West!
Andrew West decided to go for the less than humble approach in his post fight interview, telling everyone how he is going to conquer the world. The crowd seemed to like it when really that sort of approach could have gone either way.
