Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Felipe Diaz (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Edwin Evans (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Felipe Diaz!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Edwin Evans!
The judges for this bout are Robert Douchet, Alec Ball and Yves DeLean.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Diaz tries to clinch up.
Evans is definitely looking for the counter takedowns here.

Evans throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Diaz was covering up waiting for the punch and Evans finishes the takedown easily into guard.
Diaz wants to sweep but no luck.
Evans tries to free his leg and advance position but Diaz is retaining full guard.
Evans controlling from the top position.
It looks like Evans might be adopting somewhat of a lay and pray gameplan here, which I'm sure won't go down too well with the paying fans in attendance... Or the ring announcers come to think of it.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Diaz seems keen to control rather than go for a submission, at least for now.

Evans is sneakily working for an arm triangle but Diaz sees it coming and defends easily.

Evans thows a huge punch but Diaz dodges it nicely.
Diaz controlling the position for now.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Diaz misses with a takedown attempt - Evans sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.
Evans showing good head movement there, avoiding the strikes from Diaz.

Evans gets in close and instigates a clinch.
Diaz swings wildly with an uppercut but Evans uses good head movement to avoid it.

Evans looks to throw an elbow but misses.

Evans has hold of one of Diaz's legs. Diaz is fighting the takedown attempt but Evans gets the trip and lands the takedown into guard.
Evans pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Diaz is keeping the position for now.
A real slowdown in the pace of the fight for a moment, as Diaz holds on and takes a little breather.

Diaz is looking for a triangle but Evans pushes his legs off easily.

Diaz has Evans pulled in close to control his posture.
A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Evans accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.

Diaz tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in to close the distance. Evans manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.

Evans shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Diaz's guard.

Diaz is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.
Evans wants to stand and escape but instead Diaz has hit a sweep and he's now on top in guard.

Evans has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Diaz can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.

Diaz is really struggling to control Evans but he's trying to hold on to the position.
If this pace continues, the referee will definitely step in and force a standup.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity.

Diaz lands a beautiful sweep and he's now moved into his opponent's guard.

Evans has a closed guard, preventing anything of note from happening. Perhaps he's looking to stall.

Evans is holding a leg here, probably looking for an ankle lock - he drops back and goes for it! Diaz is in trouble! Is it all over??? No! Diaz has escaped and now he's on top!

Evans is looking to get full guard. It looks like he might be successful but at the last minute Diaz jumps into side control!

and Evans counters with a left and a right that stings Diaz.

Well Evans has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
