Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Angelito Barraquinha (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and The Metaphysical Magician (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Chooooooooon! I think Barraquinha might be my favorite fighter, now he's come out to The Mamas & The Papas - Dream A Little Dream Of Me. Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Barraquinha bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.
Magician dodges the ground and pound from Barraquinha.
Barraquinha has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
Magician tries to improve position but can't.

Magician takes a big shot right to the temple there but he's taken it well.

Barraquinha decides to stand back up.
Barraquinha scores with a jab to the jaw of his opponent.
Barraquinha tries a head kick but it misses.
Magician steps to his left, right into the path of a big body kick from Barraquinha. That one must have hurt.
We can't be sure of the tactics at this early stage but we have heard that Magician has been working on his takedowns a lot in the buildup to the fight and we can only assume he's going to look to take this to the mat.

Barraquinha moves into range and throws a combination. A nice jab followed by a hook to the body.

Magician stands and throws Barraquinha's legs to the side, diving into side control.

Magician goes for an armbar! This could be all over! Wait, no, Barraquinha rolls with the submission and now he's on top in Magician's guard! Nice work there by Barraquinha!

Barraquinha pushes down on Magician's leg and manages to get into half guard.
Barraquinha takes a deep breath and rests his weight momentarily on top of his opponent, to control the position.
Magician wants to improve his position but Barraquinha is controlling well.
Magician wants to get back to full guard but Barraquinha has passed into side control.

Barraquinha has had enough of the ground for now and decides to stand.

A momentary lapse in concentration from Magician enables Barraquinha to shoot in and score with a neat double leg. Magician manages to secure a closed guard as the fighters hit the mat.
Barraquinha slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up.

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.

Barraquinha will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.
Barraquinha looks over to his corner - he wants some instructions but his corner are not responding.
Barraquinha uses his free foot to push down on Magician's thigh. Eventually he works his other foot free and he's advanced to mount - this is trouble for Magician.
Magician tries to get back to half guard but can't.

The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!

Barraquinha shoots in for a takedown and gets it.
Magician has a hand on Barraquinha's thigh, trying to get back to full guard. Barraquinha takes advantage of the position though and mounts him!
Magician tries to lock up and control but Barraquinha gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away.

Barraquinha takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.

Barraquinha seems to have a rather negative gameplan on the ground. He seems keen to just score the takedown and hold down Magician for as long as he can get away with.
Barraquinha has his opponent pinned against the cage, landing some nasty ground and pound that is really making a bit of a mess out of Magician's face.

You can see the frustration on Magician's face… He knows he is in trouble unless he improves his position sooner rather than later.

Barraquinha gets to his feet. Magician looking to butt scoot but the ref puts an end to that. On your feet son!
Barraquinha throws a right hand that Magician ducks under and follows up with a left that Magician also avoids with ease.
Barraquinha lands with a head kick! That's gotta hurt.

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Magician is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but Barraquinha pulls his head out easily.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.

Magician wriggling around on the bottom manages to avoid the strikes thrown by Barraquinha.

Magician has his head snapped back a nice jab. A little nod from Magician there as he acknowledges the shot.

Barraquinha shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Magician's guard.

Barraquinha has a momentary lapse of concentration, allowing Magician to throw up a leg and lock on what appears to be a pretty tight triangle! Barraquinha is fighting it off but it's all too little too late - Magician pulls down on the head and he's put Barraquinha to sleep! This one is all over!
