Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Macho Machette (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Nishu Dere (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Nishu Dere has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 5 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Macho Machette!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 6 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Nishu Dere!
The judges for this bout are Bart Greer, Winston Alpacca and Peter Branson.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Dere misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.

Dere gets a takedown into half guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Dere trying to mount his opponent but Machette defends it.

Dere escapes and gets back to his feet.
Dere misses the shot to the body.

Dere looking to shoot here. He's gone for it and he's landed a takedown into side control! Oh, that's bad for Machette!

Dere decides to stand up, so the ref orders Machette to his feet.
Machette bobs and weaves well there to avoid the strikes.

Dere shoots in with a lovely double leg takedown. Machette manages to land in full guard to minimise the damage.
Dere has been taking part in the yoga sessions down at Cozad The Island. Presumably he's going to look for a slick submission... Or maybe he's looking to avoid one.

Dere stands up from guard. Let's bang!
Macho Machette seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Dere has taken the fight to the clinch.
Machette unloads a knee to the mid-section.
Machette misses with a punch on the inside.
Machette is trying to slow down the pace in the clinch, to catch his breath.
Machette lands a knee to the head there! That was nasty!
Machette misses with a shot to the kidneys.
Machette tries to stall but Dere uses the opportunity to gain a better position.
Machette is breathing heavily.
Dere blocks a body shot from Machette.
Machette working Dere over with knees to the body.
Machette throws an elbow but it misses.
Machette trying to stall but Dere improves his position.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Dere looking for a takedown.
Dere tries to land knees in the clinch but Machette avoids the damage to the body.

Dere tightens his grip and picks Machette up, before dumping him to the ground. Machette manages to land in guard.
Dere is frustrating his opponent with some stalling tactics from top position.
Dere pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Machette is keeping the position for now.
Machette will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.
Machette is pulling down on Dere's head. It's preventing any offense from Dere, at least for the moment.

Dere controlling from the guard. I say controlling but really, he's stalling.
It looks like the ref is thinking about a standup.

Machette had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Dere defends it easily.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.
Machette looking to control.

The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity.

Machette clinches up against the cage.
Machette scores a nice knee to the body.
Machette blocks a knee to the body. He'll have a nicely bruised forearm in the morning.

Dere breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
Dere swinging wildly here.
Machette takes a kick to the side of the head.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Nishu Dere dominated that round.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.


Dere stumbles momentarily as he takes a strong leg kick from Machette.

Dere rushes Machette and presses him up against the cage.
Dere prevents a body shot from Machette.
Machette misses with the head strike.
Dere is trying to drag Machette to the mat but Machette just about manages to keep his footing. He used the cage to his advantage there.
Both fighters working to control the clinch.

Machette breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
Dere shoots in but no luck this time.
Dere throws a head kick but Machette moves out of range.
Macho Machette is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Machette doesn't manage to clinch there - Dere circles away.
Dere avoids the head kick by Machette.
Machette sets himself, and Dere steps forward looking for the clinch! Machette avoids it this time.
Dere misses with an attempted mid kick.

Dere darts in and clinches Machette up against the cage.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Dere tries to pull guard but can't drag his opponent to the mat. Machette just stands there and leans against the cage.
Macho Machette has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Nishu Dere.

Dere breaks from the clinch.
Dere circles away from the clinch attempt.
Machette tried to score with a low kick but Dere checks it.
Machette pivots as if he's going to throw a leg kick but stops half way.
Machette wants to clinch up but Dere keeps it at a distance.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Machette feints with a shoulder and throws a nice leg kick to Dere's calf.
Machette tries to score with a leg kick but it misses it's target.

Dere has closed the distance and engaged Machette in a clinch.
The fighters are pressed against the cage, as the pace of the fight slows.
Machette with the Thai clinch. He's looking to land a big knee but he's not managed it this time.
Dere is trying to work for a single leg takedown but Machette pulls him back up using the underhooks.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Dere fails to pull guard.

Machette breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Dere checks a leg kick.
Dere has his takedown stuffed
and Machette counters with a series of strikes. Dere will be more careful next time no doubt.
Dere keeps the fight on the outside.
Dere goes for a double leg but Machette avoids the attempt and the two fighters end up clinched against the cage as Machette continues to drive forward.
Machette wants to clinch.
Machette doesn't manage to clinch there - Dere circles away.
Dere unleashes a big counter combination but Machette bobs and weaves and avoids any damage.
That kick from Machette tenderised Dere's leg. Dere is trying to keep his angry face on.

Dere takes the fight into the clinch.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.

Dere breaks the clinch.

That's three minutes gone in the round.

Machette closes the distance and presses his opponent up against the cage.
Dere jumps guard but Machette turns him against the cage and keeps the fight standing.
Dere fails to pull the fight into his guard.
Machette is trying to pull guard but Dere turns him against the cage and we stay in the clinch.
Dere blocks a knee to the body. He'll have a nicely bruised forearm in the morning.
Dere tries for a takedown but Machette manages to get underhooks.
Machette doesn't land with the attempted body shot.
Dere fails to pull guard.
Machette lands an elbow just above Dere 's eye.

Dere has picked Machette up - he's going for a ride! Dere dumps his opponent to the mat with a thud and settles into half guard.

Machette has one foot on Dere's thigh - he pushes off and manages to get back to his feet.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Machette tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in to close the distance. Dere manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Machette tries for a takedown but Dere sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily.

Dere clinches up against the cage.

Dere manages to pull guard.
Machette advances to half guard.
Dere is staying active underneath Machette, who seems content to just control the action from this position.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Machette is going to have to think about doing something other than just controlling because Dere is managing to avoid having the position dictated to him.
Machette prevents Dere from standing back up.
Machette not doing much here.
Machette is trying to control the action in half guard but Dere is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Macho Machette dominated that second round.
The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action! This is the final round!



Dere gets a double leg takedown into Machette's guard.

Machette is scooting his butt against the cage and has managed to get back to his feet. Dere presses him back against the cage, presumably looking to take the fight back to the mat.
Machette tries to land a knee to the body but he is off balance and Dere avoids it.
Dere lands with a right to the head.
Good body shot from Dere.

Dere pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.
Machette wants to clinch.
Machette shoots in for a takedown but Dere shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet.
Dere connects with a body shot.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Machette takes an uppercut right on the jaw but it doesn't phase him.

Dere rushes Machette and presses him up against the cage.
Macho Machette has scored more points in the clinch so far.

Dere breaks the clinch.
Nishu Dere seems to be getting the better of the standup.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Dere misses with a two punch combination.
Machette lands with a nice low kick. That'll leave a bruise.

Dere darts in and clinches Machette up against the cage.

Dere wants the takedown. Machette is fighting it off but Dere persists and manages to bring the fight to the ground, ending up in Machette's guard against the cage.
Dere controls the pace of the fight for a moment.
Hammerfist, elbow! yells Dere's corner. There ya go! There ya go!
Dere slips nicely into half guard.
Dere is controlling the pace.
Dere looks to score some points with some ground and pound.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Dere is thwarting Machette's attempts to control the position.
Machette is trying to get back to full guard.
Dere frees up his trapped foot and advances to mount.
We've been hearing good reports from Machette's training camp. Apparently he has been rolling around with some good quality BJJ practitioners and has been sharpening his skills. Let's see if that has an impact on the fight today.

Dere working for a guillotine from mount but Machette is in no mood to give up.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Dere wants to control but Machette has made it back to half guard. Nice work.
Machette is not content to let Dere control the position.

Dere is working for a kimura but Machette is defending it quite comfortably.
Machette wants to get back to full guard.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
Machette pushes Dere off looking to stand but Dere dives back in and keeps control.
Dere performing his best blanket impression for a moment.
Machette is trying to control but can't.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity.

And that's the end of the fight!
Nishu Dere comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
I think Dere has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
