Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Dean Diaz (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Kyle Wells (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). The fight MMA fans around the world have waited their entire lives for!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Dean Diaz!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Kyle Wells!
The judges for this bout are Gwen Towbar, Tiny Johnson and George Francis.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Wells gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily
and Diaz counters with a series of strikes. Wells will be more careful next time no doubt.
Wells is trying hard to land a takedown here. Diaz sprawls well and keeps this one on the feet.
Wells fails with a takedown attempt from distance.
It looked like Diaz was looking amped, ready to throw a big counter but didn't commit.
Dean Diaz has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Kyle Wells.
Wells shoots in but doesn't get the takedown
and Diaz counters with a two punch combo.

Diaz prevents Wells from breaking the clinch.

Diaz jumps guard but Wells stands there with Diaz around his waist. Diaz gives up and drops back to his feet. We remain in the clinch.

Diaz moves into range and clinches up with Wells.
Diaz tries to break the clinch but Wells is controlling the position.

Wells gets control of Diaz's arms and successfully pulls guard. Wells will no doubt be looking for submissions off his back.
Diaz keeps in close for a moment and lands a decent shot to the side of Wells's head.
Diaz wants to control from the top but Wells keeps moving.
Diaz throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Wells works some decent striking defense from the bottom.
Wells has a closed guard, preventing Diaz from standing up.

Diaz drops back, looking for a kneebar! Wells looks panicked! The fighters roll across the mat, one looking to finish, one looking to escape. Wells looks to have wriggled free... Yes, he's got his leg free and he's dived into side control! Good work there from Wells!

Diaz throws his opponent off and manages to get back to his feet! Nicely done!
Diaz tries to clinch up but Wells circles away and keeps his distance.

As Wells looks to move away, Diaz throws a big counter combo bu Wells just gets out of the way.

Wells moves into range and clinches up with Diaz.
Wells tries to score a body lock takedown but Diaz shows good agility there to stay on his feet.

Diaz tries to pull guard but Wells holds him up against the cage and eventually Diaz drops back down to his feet.
Diaz has dropped down and is looking to force the takedown but it's defended by Wells after a bit of a struggle.

Wells jumps guard and drags Diaz to the mat. He's obviously going to be looking for submissions off his back.
Diaz lands a couple of digs.

Diaz drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Diaz jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.
Wells keeping moving, preventing Diaz from controlling successfully.

Wells has his foot on Diaz's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Diaz works his way back into a safe position though.

Wells wants to control here, rather than go for any submissions from the bottom. At least for now.
We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup.

Wells is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Diaz is aware though and is defending well.

The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet.
Diaz lands a nice shot that snaps Wells's head back.
A head kick misses from Wells.
Diaz misses with a few strikes there.
Diaz tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Wells swivels and escapes.
Diaz really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.

That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.

Diaz working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Wells doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Wells manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.
The referee must be thinking about standing these guys back up.
Diaz can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Wells controls the pace.

The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet.
Diaz shoots in looking for a takedown but Wells manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Diaz's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away.

Wells has a body lock and is looking for a takedown. Diaz is bouncing around trying to prevent the takedown and somehow he has indeed managed to stay on his feet.
Diaz is trying to push Wells away but Wells has him pressed against the cage, so he's going nowhere.
Kneeeeees! The crowd are calling for knees to the body. Diaz obliges.

A frustrated look appears on Wells's face as he tries to break the clinch.
Wells lands a right uppercut that snaps the head of Diaz backwards.
Wells wants a takedown but no success here.
Wells tries to break free but Diaz pushes him back against the cage.

Diaz pulls guard effortlessly.
Wells not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up.
Wells stops Diaz from standing up.

Diaz pushes Wells off for just long enough to get back to his feet. Very athletic spring there.

Wells clinches up with Diaz and pushes him back against the cage.

Diaz tries to jump guard but he falls flat on his backside. Wells smiles and moves away.

Wells closes the distance and pushes Diaz back into the cage.
Diaz tries to take the fight to the ground by pulling guard but can't manage it.
Diaz fails to pull the fight into his guard.
Wells just leaning against Diaz, taking a breather.
Wells drops to a knee looking for a takedown but Diaz gets the underhooks and prevents it.
Diaz is trying to pull guard but being pressed up against the cage enables Wells to keep the fight standing.

Diaz drops down looking for an ankle pick but Wells pulls his leg out and moves away.
Wells misses with a takedown
and Diaz counters with a nice low kick that buckles Wells's knee momentarily.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Kyle Wells showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business. This is the final round!


Diaz stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Diaz wants it to stay on the feet.
Diaz tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in to close the distance. Wells manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.
Wells shoots in for a takedown but Diaz shows good takedown defense.
Wells tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.
Wells misses with a takedown attempt - Diaz sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.
Diaz tried to counter with a leg kick but Wells avoided it.

Wells tries to score a power double leg takedown but Diaz sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Wells somewhat.

Wells takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.

Kyle Wells seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Diaz looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Wells is fending him off so far but Diaz persists. Nope, Wells circles away and we're back to standing.
Wells connects with a body shot that sends Diaz's belly button to the back.
Diaz keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl.
Diaz was looking to counter that move with a punch but didn't quite pull the trigger.
Wells misses with an uppercut.

and Wells counters with a shot to the ribs. That looked like it hurt.
Wells shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Diaz as he avoids it easily.

Diaz is trying to pull guard but Wells turns him against the cage and we stay in the clinch.

Wells has Diaz pressed up against the cage and is working for takedown. Diaz manages to improve position though and keeps the fight standing.

Wells stops Diaz from standing up.

Diaz has managed to wall walk up one of the corner posts to get back to his feet. Wells is pushing him up against the cage, looking to control the position.
Diaz wants a takedown.
Diaz jumps guard but Wells stands there with Diaz around his waist. Diaz gives up and drops back to his feet. We remain in the clinch.

Dean Diaz overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Diaz manages to pull guard. Let's see whether he can land a sub off his back.

Well Diaz has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
