Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Donnell Santos (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jonnii Mathews (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Jonnii Mathews will no doubt be trying to keep this one on the feet, where he has a distinct advantage.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Santos avoids a punch combination nicely.

Santos gets the takedown into side control.

Mathews throws a left and a right that both miss
and Santos connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle.
Santos tries to clinch there but Mathews circles away.

Santos darts in and lands a nice takedown into half guard.
Santos really is a fat lump.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Santos slips a nice elbow through Mathews's hands, connecting with Mathews's forehead.
Mathews really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Santos. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

Santos is trying to work for a kimura. This could be trouble! No, Mathews has managed to free his arm - good work.
Mathews has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Santos is working away from the top position though.

Santos is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Mathews defends it well.

Mathews feints a straight left to the body, then turns around with a flashy move and hits Santoss jaw with a dramatic spinning back fist!

Mathews only half commits to the counter leg kick.
Jonnii Mathews seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Mathews tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Santos paws at him with a jab and circles away.
Santos is looking for a counter combo.
Mathews ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Santos moves away.
Santos keeping a good distance there, avoiding the body shot.
Santos appears to be looking for a big counter.
Santos fails to land with a series of punches.
Jonnii Mathews is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
Mathews smiles there as he lands a nice right hand right on the button.
Santos takes a jab right on the nose. That must have hurt but he shrugs his shoulders and looks to return the favor.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.

Mathews shapes like he's going to throw a leg kick but settles back down.
Mathews tries to score with an inside leg kick but telegraphs it and Santos is able to avoid easily.

Mathews lands a beauty of a right hand that gets the crowd cheering.
Mathews tries to bum rush Santos with a series of wild strikes but Santos uses good footwork to avoid the assault.
Mathews tries a head kick but it misses.
No joy there for Mathews, who threw a few shots but didn't land.
Mathews misses the shot to the body.
Mathews rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Santos moves out of range and avoids them all easily.
It looked like Santos wanted to counter with a hook but didn't fully commit.
Mathews is using his reach advantage to land shots from outside his opponent's range.
Mathews swings wildly with a hook that is half blocked by Santos.
Mathews lands a nice looking body shot.

Mathews gets caught on his heels momentarily as he allows Santos to score an easy takedown into full guard.

Santos drops back for a leg here. A bit of a high risk move... He's looking for a kneebar by the looks of things. Now both of them are looking for submissions. Santos seems to have locked his on tight now - Mathews screams in pain and taps out furiously! It certainly was a high risk move but it's paid off for Santos, as he picks up the win!
