Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Edwin Evans!
The judges for this bout are Trevor Gratis, Gregory Folan and Robert Douchet.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Evans displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Cirkunov.
Cirkunov shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Evans as he jumps to the side.
As Cirkunov backs off Evans throws a huge counter combo but Cirkunov manages to avoid it all.
Cirkunov shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Evans sprawls well. Evans wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Cirkunov gets slowly back to his feet.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Felipe Cirkunov. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Cirkunov throws a hard body shot but it just misses.
Cirkunov dives in and grabs Evans's left leg, looking for a takedown. Evans pushes down on Cirkunov's head and hops out.

Evans gets caught on his heels momentarily as he allows Cirkunov to score an easy takedown into full guard.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Evans can do anything to dispel that myth.

Cirkunov got a little sloppy there for a moment and Evans has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Cirkunov has managed to get both his arms back between Evans's legs - danger averted.
Cirkunov wants to stand but Evans has a closed guard, so he can't escape.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Evans looking for a sweep. Not yet Evans, not yet.

Cirkunov trying to land body shots but he keeps hitting the mat.
Evans is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Cirkunov is controlling him.

Cirkunov has decided he wants to stand but the closed guard of Evans is proving hard to escape from.
It looks like the ref is thinking about a standup.
Evans bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Cirkunov's guard.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.
Cirkunov manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Evans manages to get himself to full guard.

Evans keeping moving, preventing Cirkunov from controlling successfully.
Evans is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.

Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Cirkunov wants to improve his position but Evans is controlling well.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.


Cirkunov tries for a takedown but Evans circles away easily
and Evans counters with a two punch combo.

Evans dives in and scores a takedown into Cirkunov's guard.

Evans stands and throws Cirkunov's legs to the side, diving into side control.

Evans swings around for an armbar but Cirkunov sees it coming a mile off and turns beautifully into Evans's guard.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Cirkunov wants to control from the top but Evans keeps moving.

Cirkunov works a leg free and moves into half guard.

Cirkunov is keen to just control but Evans is a slippery customer.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.
Cirkunov is going to have to think about doing something other than just controlling because Evans is managing to avoid having the position dictated to him.
Edwin Evans has got the better of the ground game so far.

The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet.
Cirkunov keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl.

Cirkunov scores with a nice takedown into half guard. Let's see what he's got on the ground.

Cirkunov won't allow Evans to sweep him here.
The referee must be thinking about standing these guys back up.

Evans pushes a forearm under Cirkunov's chin to create some space. He's escaped his hips and pivoted quickly for an armbar! Can he extend the arm? Yes, Cirkunov is tapping out! Damn, that was fast!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:59 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (Armbar). Edwin Evans!
