PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between David Taylor (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Kevin James (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). I'm sure you'll be fascinated to know that I was talking to some pointless Z list celebrity before the fight and he thought that Kevin James was going to win. Let's see if he was right.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 21 - 10 - 1, fighting out of Amsterdam, David Taylor !
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 20 - 15 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Kevin James!
The judges for this bout are , Frank Antenori and Timothy Bukovac.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Taylor throws a shot to the body.
We can't be sure of the tactics at this early stage but we have heard that James has been working on his takedowns a lot in the buildup to the fight and we can only assume he's going to look to take this to the mat.
James scores with a jab.
James fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.
Taylor scores with a sloppy punch to the body. Not much technique there but it did the business.
Taylor looks to score with a jab to the body but James is just out of range.
James tries a counter takedown but it's more of a dummy move, and he uses it to push himself away.
Good exchange - James coming out on top.

Taylor looks to land a right hand but James moved out of range.
James fakes a head punch and goes low to the body. Nicely done.
James moves away from the strike by Taylor .
James lands with a nice combination. Taylor backs away looking to recover.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
James throws an overhand right that lands on Taylor 's shoulder, as Taylor tries to avoid the shot.
James on the wrong end of a vicious looking body shot.
James defends well against a solid takedown attempt from Taylor .
Taylor thows a left - swing and a miss!
Taylor ducks under a wild hook from James.
James cracks a nice hook into Taylor 's ribs.
James slips under a jab from Taylor .

James scores with a jab to the jaw.
Taylor avoids the body shot from James.
That kick from James tenderised Taylor 's leg. Taylor is trying to keep his angry face on.
A telegraphed right hand from Taylor misses the target.
James is the aggressor but that punch slipped nicely by Taylor .
Taylor shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says James as he avoids it easily.
Taylor works over James's head and body with a nice combination.


It looks like Kevin James has been cut.

Taylor closes the distance and clinches.
James wants to push off and get back to the center of the mat but Taylor has him pressed against the cage.
James blocks a punch to the side of the head.
Taylor prevents James from breaking the clinch.
Taylor presses James against the cage and delivers a mid-strength body shot.
James is trying to break free.
James tries a body shot but Taylor blocks it.
Taylor lands on the inside with an uppercut.

James breaks from the clinch.
No joy there for Taylor , who threw a few shots but didn't land.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
James throws a body kick that misses.
James displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Taylor .
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for David Taylor . That's going to take a lot out of him.

James changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Taylor looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.

James tries to land with some ground and pound but misses.
James controls the position.
James tries to score with some ground and pound. Taylor controls his posture well this time though and the shots don't do any damage.
Taylor stops James from passing to mount.
Taylor is trying to control James's posture but James avoids it.

James is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Taylor knows the correct defense though, so he's OK.

Taylor can't do much from the bottom here.
James throws a knee to the body but it doesn't do much damage.
James sitting in side control, looking to soften his opponent up with elbows and hammerfists but Taylor is avoiding damage well and looking to escape the position.
Taylor regains half guard, as James was trying to land strikes.
Taylor is looking for a sweep. James is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.
The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
James is keen to just control but Taylor is a slippery customer.
James trying to pass the guard but Taylor defending well.
James throws a strike but Taylor avoids it easily and moves to full guard.
There's a bit of a scramble here and now Taylor is on top in guard.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Taylor landing some decent shots from guard.
James looking to control.
Taylor postures up in James's guard and throws a big left but James blocks it.
James looking to sweep here. No luck so far.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

A close round but Kevin James will probably get the nod.
The cut man is working on Kevin James's cut.
That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business.

Taylor throws a series of punches but James moves out of range.

James gets a double leg takedown into Taylor 's guard.

Taylor scrambles and gets back to his feet.
James throws a shot from downtown. Taylor moves away and avoids it.
Taylor avoids a lazy jab quite easily.
James looks to land a left hand but Taylor moved out of range nicely.
James throws an ugly left hook that misses

and Taylor counters with a driving takedown into guard. Nice work there by Taylor .

Taylor is working James over from the guard. He should look to pass the guard and do a little more damage with these strikes.
Taylor lands a couple of elbows.
Taylor loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry.

James has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Taylor can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.
A real slowdown in the pace of the fight for a moment, as James holds on and takes a little breather.

Taylor throwing strikes but missing.
Taylor is working James over from the guard. He should look to pass the guard and do a little more damage with these strikes.

Taylor is sitting in guard, working some ground and pound.


James is rocked!
Taylor has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.

James is still in real trouble! Can Taylor finish him?
Taylor gets to his feet and stands over James, holding his ankles. He dives in with a big left hand that connects! James felt that one! Taylor unloads more punches and elbows and this one is over! The ref has dived in to save James from any more punishment!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:53 of round 2, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). David Taylor !
During a confident post fight interview, David Taylor thanked all his fans. He seemed very genuine when describing how motivated his fans keep him.
