Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, for the light heavyweight championship of the world!
Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 7 - 1 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Bernardo Muriel!
And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 9 - 2 - 1, fighting out of The Island, Cheng Ki Won!
The judges for this bout are Dirk Anderson, Winston Alpacca and Santiago Holmes.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Ki Won chopped to the floor by a nice leg kick but he springs right back up before Muriel can pounce on him.
Ki Won tries to clinch up.
Muriel swinging wildly here.
Muriel throws a head kick that Ki Won semi-blocks.
Ki Won has a takedown stuffed.
We've been told by Muriel's head coaches at THE GYM (20 Elite coaches on the Island !!!) that he's been working on his takedown defense in preparation for this fight.
Muriel thuds a mid kick into his opponent's body. That will wear on Ki Won if he has to take too many more of those.
Muriel throws a wild combination but nothing lands.
Ki Won takes a kick to the side of the head.


It looks like Cheng Ki Won has been cut.
Ki Won tries for a takedown but Muriel sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily.
Ki Won changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Muriel tries to avoid it but Ki Won manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Muriel to the ground. Muriel escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
Bernardo Muriel has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Cheng Ki Won.
Muriel lands with an uppercut that bounces Ki Won off the cage and back into range.
Muriel wings a very wild body shot but it does the job and lands to the midsection.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Muriel lands an overhand left. A wild punch that just about connected.

Ki Won bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.

Ki Won tries for a kimura but Muriel is defending well.

Ki Won decides to stand back up. Ki Won steps back and let's Muriel get back to his feet.
Muriel throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Ki Won.
Muriel uses decent footwork to sidestep a right hand from Ki Won.
Bernardo Muriel is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
Ki Won tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion.
A telegraphed takedown attempt from Ki Won is defended easily by Muriel.
Ki Won wants to clinch.
Ki Won drops his hands momentarily and Muriel takes advantage with a crisp shot to the head.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Ki Won looks for a takedown but Muriel sprawls well.

Ki Won closes the distance and after a bit of a stuggle, scores a takedown into Muriel's guard.

Ki Won drops back looking for a leg! Muriel is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Muriel manages to kick Ki Won off! Ki Won jumps back into Muriel's guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Ki Won missing there with some ground and pound from the guard.
Muriel is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.

The fighters are going at a pretty good pace and they're both starting to sweat now.
Muriel stalling.
Ki Won is looking to improve his position.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Ki Won is still trying to improve position.
Muriel takes a deep breath and rests his weight momentarily on top of his opponent, to control the position.

Ki Won with the active half guard here but Muriel passes nicely into side control.
Muriel creates some space and throws a big elbow, but Ki Won sees it coming and moves his head just enough to avoid the strike.
Muriel is moving around in side control but his primary objective seems to be to maintain the position.
Ki Won tries to bench press Muriel off him but Muriel keeps the position.
Muriel takes a little break here. Ki Won wants to take advantage but he is being controlled well.
Ki Won is trying to improve his position.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Muriel scores with a reasonable looking shot to the body. Ki Won doesn't seem bothered though.

Bernardo Muriel seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Ki Won avoids a punch combination nicely.

and Muriel counters with a three punch combination, finished off with a leg kick. Nice work.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Ki Won walks into a jab.
Ki Won throws a series of punches but Muriel moves out of range.
Bernardo Muriel is winning the standup battle so far.
Muriel pushes forward with a 1-2 combination that forces Ki Won back to the cage. Muriel follows up with a solid lead hook to the liver.
The fighters circle momentarily. Muriel darts into range and connects with a nice straight punch.


Ki Won is rocked!

Muriel seems to be stalking Ki Won here. He circles momentarily and then unleashes a devastatic head kick! Ki Won drops like a stone, out cold! WOW! Are you kidding me!? What a knockout!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:06 of round 2, we have a winner by way of KO (Head Kick). Bernardo Muriel!
Bernardo Muriel retains his light heavyweight title!
A relieved looking Bernardo Muriel thanked the fans for their support and gave the usual line about them being amazing. They seemed to believe that he actually meant it.
