PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Butch Larson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Dan Mac (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). On his way into the cage it seems that Butch Larson has been attacked by a crazed fan! It looks like it might have been the just bleed guy! Luckily Butch Larson seems to be OK! I thought that lunatic was in prison!?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Butch Larson!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Dan Mac!
The judges for this bout are Trevor Gratis, Gregory Folan and Steve Smith.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Larson gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard.
Mac must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.
Larson has Mac pulled in close to control his posture.
Mac looking to pass the guard.
Larson working a defensive guard here.
A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Mac accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.
Mac in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time.
Mac trying to control the position from guard on top but Larson is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Mac loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Mac wants to control from the top but Larson keeps moving.
Mac really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Larson. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Mac might have to switch it up a bit here because his efforts to control Larson haven't been going to plan, at least at the current moment in time.
Larson seems keen to control Mac's posture.

That's one minute gone in the round.

The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet.
A combination from Larson does no damage.
As Larson backs off Mac throws a huge counter combo but Larson manages to avoid it all.

The fight moves into the clinch position.

Larson gets a trip takedown into half guard.
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Mac can do anything to dispel that myth.
Mac trying to hold on to Larson's head to control him but Larson postures up.
Larson wants to control but Mac is keeping him busy.
Mac desperately trying to maintain half guard.
Larson looks over to his corner - he wants some instructions but his corner are not responding.

Mac makes some distance and scrambles quickly back to his feet. Nice work!

That's two minutes gone in the round.

Mac gets a double leg takedown into Larson's guard.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Larson has managed to work for a loose triangle. I think Mac should be able to defend this one pretty easily though. Oh, Larson has tightened it up now! Mac should have reacted faster there - he's in big trouble and yes, he's tapped out! This one is all over!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:31 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Triangle). Butch Larson!
