Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Rosen Strasser (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and John Simons III (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Rosen Strasser is staring across the cage at his opponent, tweaking his nipples... Tweaking his own nipples that is.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 15 - 12 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Rosen Strasser!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 50 - 35 - 2, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, John Simons III!
The judges for this bout are Matheus Silva, Alexandre Firmino and Felipe Paraventi.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
No joy there for Strasser, who threw a few shots but didn't land.
Simons III takes a jab on the nose there. A little bit of blood seems to be coming out. Hopefully that won't affect his breathing.
Simons III fails miserably with a takedown attempt.
Simons III uses good head movement to avoid the hook from Strasser.

Simons III decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard.

Strasser kicks Simons III off and gets back to his feet.
Strasser throws a couple of head shots and lands with the final one - a decent hook, which struck Simons III on the side of the head.
Strasser tests Simons III's chin there with a solid looking shot.
Strasser really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Simons III shoots in looking for a takedown. Strasser tries to sprawl out of it but Simons III keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Strasser manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
Strasser throws a jab when Simons III was well out of range.
Simons III wants to counter with a clinch but Strasser pushes him away.

Strasser throws a series of punches but Simons III avoids them all with ease.
A left lands for Strasser.

Strasser moves into range and throws a combination. A nice jab followed by a hook to the body.
Strasser throws a hard body shot but it just misses.
A good leg kick by Strasser.
Simons III fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Strasser avoids it really well and circles away.
Rosen Strasser has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of John Simons III.
Strasser closes the distance and lands a one-two.
Strasser scores with a nice one two combo and darts back out of range to avoid anything coming in the opposite direction.
Strasser is using his reach advantage well here, landing the more effective single shots from range.

Strasser swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.
Rosen Strasser is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Simons III is trying hard to land a takedown here. Strasser sprawls well and keeps this one on the feet.

Simons III moves into the clinch successfully.

Strasser pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.
Simons III goes for a double leg but Strasser avoids the attempt and the two fighters end up clinched against the cage as Strasser continues to drive forward.
Strasser throws a lazy head kick

and Simons III counters with a nice double leg into side control. Strasser won't be happy with that.
In the pre-fight buildup videos we saw Simons III working his ground and pound in the gym. He isn't landing a great percentage of his ground strikes so far though.
Simons III wants to control but Strasser is keeping him busy.

Will Simons III go for the finish here or will he try and keep control of the position?

Strasser is displaying good submission defense - not really looking in danger of submitting to the rear naked choke at the moment. That could change in an instant of course if Simons III gets his way!

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.
A bit of a pause in the action here. Simons III controlling the positon.
Strasser is keeping busy.

Simons III has his hand under the chin of his opponent looking for the choke. He's nearly got it! This one could be all over! But no, Strasser has freed his hand and lives to survive another… well, another couple of seconds at least!
The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
Simons III tries to keep control of the position but Strasser is staying busy.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Strasser won't allow Simons III to pass to mount.

Simons III maintaining the dominant position here and is working for a kimura. He's locked it up! Strasser could be in real trouble here! He's trying to wriggle out but Simons III has cracked it and Strasser is screaming in pain - he's tapped out! Great finish by Simons III!
