PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Kavan Kerr (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Johnny Saint (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 0 - 1, fighting out of Montreal, Kavan Kerr!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 6 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Johnny Saint!
The judges for this bout are Elvis Blanc, Robert Douchet and Yves DeLean.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Saint avoids the body shot from Kerr.
Saint doesn't fully commit to the body shot counter.
Good standup being displayed there by Saint as he connects with a hook.

Kerr forces Saint back against the cage and clinches.
Saint tries to break the clinch but Kerr is controlling the position.
Kerr is trying to drag Saint to the mat but Saint just about manages to keep his footing. He used the cage to his advantage there.
Kerr makes some space for himself and lands an uppercut.
Kerr is trying to pull guard but Saint turns him against the cage and we stay in the clinch.
Kerr jumps guard but Saint turns him against the cage and keeps the fight standing.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Kavan Kerr. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Saint lands a body punch in the clinch.
Saint is trying to drag Kerr to the mat but Kerr just about manages to keep his footing. He used the cage to his advantage there.

Saint breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
Kavan Kerr seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Kerr changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Saint tries to avoid it but Kerr manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Saint to the ground. Saint escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
Saint displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Kerr.

Kerr dives in and scores a takedown into Saint's guard.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Kerr would like to get this fight back to the feet but can't get free from the closed guard.
Saint is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.
Saint with a momentary lay and pray from half guard.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.
Saint stops Kerr from getting back to his feet.
Kerr wants to get back to full guard.
Saint trying to control the pace.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Kerr looks like he's trying to stand up.
Kerr wants to control the action here but instead Saint manages to pass to full mount!
Kerr working to try and regain half guard.
Saint controlling the pace for now.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Kerr wants to hold on but Saint pushes him away.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Saint looking to control and managing it successfully.
Saint prevents Kerr from getting the reversal.
Saint controlling the pace for now.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!

Kerr somehow manages to escape the mount and get back to his feet!
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Kavan Kerr dominated that round.
That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business.


Kerr tries to clinch up
and Saint counters with a straight right hand.
Saint connects with a body shot.
Saint feints with a shoulder and throws a nice leg kick to Kerr's calf.
Kerr gets his head snapped back by a nice shot there.
Saint cracks Kerr with a hook to the jaw. Both fighters smile at eachother and high-five before getting back down to business.
Kerr looks to be in better condition than last time we saw him fight. Obviously he's been working hard on his cardio.
Saint works his jab well there, keeping his opponent at a distance.
Saint has been the more effective fighter overall so far.
Saint throws a couple of head shots and lands with the final one - a decent hook, which struck Kerr on the side of the head.


Kerr is rocked!
Saint keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl.
Kerr lands a jab.
Saint throws a jab to the body, straight down the pipe. Boom. That sent Kerr stumbling backwards but he manages to regain his composure quickly.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Kerr shoots and misses
and Saint cracks him with a counter punch right on the button.
Saint lands with a cross.
Oh Kerr is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!!

That's one minute gone in the round.
Saint thuds a mid kick into his opponent's body. That will wear on Kerr if he has to take too many more of those.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Saint uses good footwork to get in and out and land a nice right hand before Kerr has time to react.
Saint connects with the punch.
Kerr walks straight into a right hand from Saint - that's dropped him! Saint jumps into mount and starts pounding away - can he finish?! More strikes go undefended and the referee has to dive in to save Kerr from any more punishment! Kerr complains about the stoppage but falls over as he tries to stand back up, so it was clearly a good stoppage.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:18 of round 2, we have a winner by way of TKO (Punches). Johnny Saint!
A less than humble Johnny Saint misjudged his post fight interview somewhat and came across a little too arrogant whilst trying to hype up his own abilities.
