Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Johann Kessler (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Rangi Smith (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Kessler comes to the cage accompanied by Coal Chamber - Burgundy. Well, the cameraman is lingering on a pretty young lady for a bit too long there. Keep your eyes on the prize buddy or you'll miss the fighter intros!

Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 8 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Johann Kessler!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 9 - 8 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Rangi Smith!
The judges for this bout are Donatello Bradman, Darius Henderson and Ben Watson.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Kessler closes the distance and clinches.
Kessler stalls.
Kessler lands a shot to the body.
Smith manages to get underhooks and slows down the pace for a moment.
Kessler is looking to score with knees to the body. Maybe he'll change it up and go body then head. Smith is defending well for now.
A knee to the head by Kessler.
Kessler lands a right hand.
Kessler is struggling to control the position.
Kessler lands with a quick shot inside that doesn't really do much damage.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Kessler with the Thai clinch, lands a knee to the head.

It looks like Rangi Smith has been cut.
A short left from Kessler.
Kessler stalling.
Smith tries to break the clinch but Kessler is controlling the position.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Kessler connects with a knee to the head.
Smith wants to break free but Kessler has control.
Kessler pushes Smith back against the cage and lands a hook to the side of the head.
Kessler will no doubt start fighting again in a minute but for now he's just having a little rest, leaning Smith up against the cage.

Kessler breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
Smith scores with a jab to the head.
Smith paws at his opponent with the jab and then lunges in with a straight, right on the button.
Kessler fakes a jab and scores with a low kick.
A head kick by Smith misses
and Kessler counters with a nice low kick that buckles Smith's knee momentarily.
Smith misses with a series of wild punches.

That's two minutes gone in the round.

Kessler gets in close and instigates a clinch.

Smith breaks from the clinch.
A head kick misses from Kessler.
Despite the aggression on Smith's face he doesn't fully commit to the counter.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Kessler connects with a high kick.
Smith misses with the combination.
Smith misses with a straight left.
Smith misses with a two punch combination.
Smith has his front leg slapped to the side - a nice low kick landing there from Kessler.
Smith pulls out of a head kick attempt.
Nice body punch from Smith.
Smith swings wildly with a right hand that was never going to find it's target.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Smith throws a right hand that Kessler ducks under and follows up with a left that Kessler also avoids with ease.
Kessler throws a nice outside leg kick.
Smith swings and misses with a shot to the body
and Smith takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles.
Kessler takes a swing at Smith's ribcage but misses.

Kessler lands a big head kick that sends Smith tumbling to the mat! Kessler takes a step backwards and waves Smith back to his feet - he wants the finish!

Smith is rocked!
Smith drops his hands momentarily and Kessler needs no second invitation. He sets himself and throws a perfect high kick, that clips Smith just on the top of the head. Smith drops like a sack of potatoes to the canvas, out cold! Oooooooh yeah! Stick a fork in Smith - he's done!
