PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Arlen Carson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jai Miles (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Miles has a niggling injury. He would have liked to come in 100% fit but that's not always possible. Jai Miles has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 3 - 0, fighting out of New York, Jai Miles!
The judges for this bout are Alyssa Summers, Lou da Vinci and Eddie Farnsworth.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Miles takes a swing at Carson's ribcage but misses.
Miles misses with a few strikes there.

Carson tries to sprawl but Miles drives through with a takedown into half guard.
Miles looks winded!
Miles prevents Carson from improving his position.
Carson makes his way to full guard. A much better position for Carson.
Miles won't allow Carson to get back to his feet.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Carson wants to control here, rather than go for any submissions from the bottom. At least for now.
Carson looking to hit a scissor sweep but Miles is one step ahead there.
Carson could do with losing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely.

Carson is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.
Carson is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
Carson is pulling down on Miles's head to control his posture.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity.
Miles just misses with a punch to the body.

Carson wants to control but Miles postures up.
Carson is in a bad position, trying to hold on for dear life but he is really struggling to maintain any sort of control.
Carson tries to buck Miles off but Miles is having none of it.

Carson sneaks a leg back under and regains half guard and is working straight away to try and get back to guard. He hasn't managed just yet though.

Carson is looking for a sweep. Miles is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.

Miles is thwarting Carson's attempts to control the position.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Carson keeping his head moving to avoid the ground and pound.
Miles prevents Carson from improving his position.
Miles stalling.
Carson is trying to maintain the position but Miles is very close to passing his half guard.

Miles decides to return to a standing position.

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.

Miles shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Carson's guard.
Miles working some ground and pound from guard but it's not doing any damage.

Carson looking for submissions off his back, moving his hips, looking for an opening.
Carson has his hands on Miles's head, controlling the position.
Carson has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!

Miles tries to stall but Carson uses the opportunity to gain a better position.

Miles pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.
Carson throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Miles.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Miles showing good head movement there, avoiding the strikes from Carson.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Carson has taken the fight to the clinch.

Miles stops a takedown attempt from Carson.
Miles has been the more effective fighter overall so far.

Miles pulls Carson into guard.

Carson stands up from Miles's guard - Carson perhaps looking for a knockout.

Excellent takedown into side control there by Miles.
Miles tries to advance to mount but can't.

Miles working away.
Carson wants to escape from the position here - easier said than done!
Carson manages to land a sweep and he's now on top! Lovely Jiu Jitsu!
Carson seems to have lost interest with the ground game and is thinking about standing back up.

Carson decides to stand and escape the position.
Carson wants to clinch up but Miles keeps it at a distance.

Carson shoots in and gets a takedown into Miles's guard.

Miles has managed to wall walk up one of the corner posts to get back to his feet. Carson is pushing him up against the cage, looking to control the position.

The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.

Carson is thinking about going for an arm triangle but he can't free his leg.

A close second round but Jai Miles will probably get the nod - 10:9.
OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action. The crowd applaud as we get ready to start the final round!



Miles gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard.

The fighters are working up against the cage. Miles manages to wriggle his way back to his feet, so the fighters are now clinched against the cage.
Carson has hold of a leg and is looking for a trip takedown. Miles avoids it nicely though and we remain in the clinch.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Miles jumps into guard, dragging Carson to the mat.

Carson gets to his feet. Miles looking to butt scoot but the ref puts an end to that. On your feet son!
Carson throws a two punch combo that lands nicely.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Well Miles has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
