Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Lapu Gatmaitan (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Pietro Maximoff (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Pietro Maximoff told me before the fight that he's been watching a lot of DVDs so let's see if that helps him in this one! I can't wait to find out!

The judges for this bout are Jeff Smith, Micheangelo Fripello and Roger Salmon.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Maximoff scores with a slapping inside leg kick.
Maximoff lands with a kick to the temple. Gatmaitan shrugs as if to say "is that all you've got?"
It looks like Lapu Gatmaitan has been cut.
Maximoff scores with a nice strike.
Gatmaitan misses with a low kick.
Maximoff moves into range and lands a nice leg kick.
Gatmaitan fails with an attempt to clinch.
Maximoff appeared to try and counter that last move with a leg kick.

and Maximoff counters with a right hand to the body.

Gatmaitan misses with a telegraphed body shot
and Maximoff counters with a thumping low kick.
Maximoff throws a body kick despite being completely out of range
and Gatmaitan counters with a shoot takedown into half guard.
Gatmaitan definitely looks more muscular than last time we saw him fight.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
Maximoff content to sit in half guard and control for a moment.
The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity.
Maximoff moving in and out of range nicely, whilst landing the scoring shot.
Maximoff connects with a slap. Keep your fist closed son.
Gatmaitan is rocked!
Maximoff lands hard precision jab right on the jaw that stiffens Gatmaitan up and sends him tumbling to the mat! The ref grabs Maximoff from behind before he can pounce. Some folks in the crowd didn't like that stoppage, but I saw Gatmaitan's eyes roll way back in his head, he was done.
Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:36 of round 1, we have a winner by way of KO (Punch). Pietro Maximoff!
After the fight, Pietro Maximoff was humble in paying tribute to his opponent but made it clear he wants to go on to bigger and better things. It seemed to go down well with the crowd who cheered him loudly.
